I went in with high expectations and left slightly underwhelmed. Didnt realize it was a remake of Kurosawa's Rashomon until half way through. Which was cool. Nice surprise.

I enjoyed it, like any Ridley Scott movie the costume, set, lighting cinematography were next level artistic but when I saw Matt Damons character I saw Matt Damon, when I saw Adam Drivers character I saw Adam Driver, when I saw Ben Affleck I saw Ben Affleck.

----------

Ridley Scott - im confused a bit by this huge surge in work hes putting in the past 5 years or so ... dudes an old man and seems like hes made more the past 5 years vs his entire career. I find most of his movies to droll on a bit but visually hes the man, and he can tell a good story.
I thought was Belfast was a little disappointing. I would like a comprehensive movie about the Troubles in Northern Ireland as it’s a fascinating situation.

Nightmare Alley was good, not great. With an ending that was lacking.

A great movie I saw recently was The Card Counter. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11196036/.

Speaking of Ridley Scott I just watched the director's cut of Blade Runner. Hard to believe that movie is 40 years old.

Last one I saw in that series was in 90 or 91, I was still in high school. It was laughably bad back then.

The Northman is by far and away one of the best films I’ve seen in awhile. Outstanding and original. Great camerawork and visually impressive.

I need to see that.

Went to see Top Gun Maverick over the weekend, thought it was maybe a little overhyped but it was very solid overall. Fast paced, lots of great action, and plenty of call backs to the original. Great summer popcorn movie.

Yeah saw Top Gun in the theaters…I thought it was better than the first. Love the nostalgia and good cast, Miles Teller is becoming a top actor. When I first saw him in Whiplash thought he could become special. Side note, see Whiplash, one of my favorites in the last ten years.

Also, right as Covid hit, this brand new Cinema Cafe opened near my girlfriend and sat empty…now that Folks have returned to the movies, dude I’m never seeing a movie anywhere else…lounge chairs, beer and cocktails and great food with waitstaff. It’s freaking awesome

Saw it this past Saturday, he gives an amazing performance.

It was a good move, a little long, but solid.

Yeah it was a little long, tough to tell a story like that over 2.5 hours, it almost needs to be a series with multiple episodes

The most recent Bond is "free" on Amazon. I hope it's good, it's almost 3 hours long.
