Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
You watch: Not only will all the top DL prospects be long gone, but the second tier DL guys will be gone by #31 too.
True to form, we have F*%#ed our defensive line AGAIN.
Lamar Woodly, Charles Johnson, and Anthony Spencer will all be available at #31. |
Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
Hi,
I think we need to keep the pick and take LaRon Landry. With him and Sean Taylor are LB's are going to play better. With these two players you could put seven in the box and stop the run. |

Really? Does your Crystal Ball give out lottery numbers too? |

Can you explain how that works? And seven in the box? We always use seven in the box. Hell, we can barely stop the run with 8 in the box, let alone 7. |
Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
How excited are Bears fans about this deal right now? You lose a guy who plans on sitting out this season anyways and you move up 25 spots to the #6 pick, which you can then use to get an instant starter or you can trade to someone like Denver for even more picks.
If this was happening to the Redskins-young, all-pro linebacker threatens to hold out because the front office won't pay him-fans would be calling for heads to roll. People are throwing up a storm over Dockery, imagine what it would be like for someone of Briggs' caliber. But since it's not the Redskins, but the Bears there's no talk of "why don't the Bears just give Briggs the money he's asking for" |

Lol, only on Tuesdays. Don't worry, my point is that we'll be fine, there are plenty of players that fall through the cracks on draft day. Look at DeMeco Ryans and Tood Heap. This draft is loaded with DE's if our FO can't find one then God have mercy on their souls. |
Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
I don't know if you guys have ever used the Draft Value chart, but it is this chart that assigns points to each draft pick so GM's don't make another Mike Ditka mistake or Hershel Walker trade.
According to the Chart, this deal means you are giving away your 6th and the equivalent of a 16th pick for Briggs and the 31st pick. A first rounder at 16 is usually a starter and pretty cheap relatively speaking in terms of the salary cap. I don't think this deal makes sense for the Redskins. |

Wow. They played right through that earthquake. They really earn their money. I remember THIS play by Briggs best: But hey...everyone went after Patrick...even Arch! Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
If this is such a bad deal and only time will tell us. Why would Gibbs sign off on it? Still think another pick should be in the deal? Is Ian Scott the next Bear to come in if he is still out there?

If we have the cap room that would be a great pick up. |

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. Your 6th pick is worth - according to the chart - a 16th and a 31st. So Briggs, in effect, is assigned the value of a first round #16 pick. |

I think what he means is that we are getting two first round picks for this trade. Heres the math The Redskins pick is worth 1600 points The Bears pick is worth 600 points The 16th pick is worth 1000 points. This means that we're assuming that Briggs is worth the right to pick 16th overall in the draft. |
