I am not looking for this guy to be an all-pro or even hoping for it. If he can pull a Mandarich and give us 2-3 good quality seasons as a starter or even back-up, that would be a HUGE gain for us.

I agree with that staement about looking for an All Pro. I do however think he is better than Jansen or Heyer.

I think what would be huge is if he was able to be a quality backup for Samuels. I think the rest of the line quality is relatively interchangeable, but when/if Samuels goes down that is when our line play drastically drops. If he can work through and be ready to go by mid season I think it will be a coup for us. I am still sorta hoping Levi Jones is at least being talked to.

Good news to hear, we will see how the OTA's go. Id like to see him play back to the form that made him a 1st rounder and help our oline become a force again. But he does have a ways to go.

I am so hoping this guy can put it together and stay healthy for us. I really think if he plays to his natural capabilities he is a MAJOR upgrade at RT. I am really setting myself up for disappointment though. The weight and injury issues don't just disappear and the fact that he is only eating salads is a red alert to me. he can't keep that kind of eating up long term. He needs to be working on keeping weight down without a special and unsustainable diet.

yeah he is eating salads now to do a dramatic drop in weight in a short period. When he gets back to his target weight it wont be hard to keep it providing he continues to work out.

I know it is a small detail...but the video has him quoting 392 lbs.

If Buges can help Williams get is technique down then I see the team keeping him. No matter what size he is. They have already said they are supprised at how well he can move his feet. Which means speed is not an issue at this point. I think their issue is can he play a whole game and not get too tired and have to sit out or have a heart attack.

If he can get his endurance up then I bet he's the RT. Although I'll agree I'm setting myself up for perhaps a big disappointment. I think the left side of the line is stablized now that Dockery is back. My concerns are Rahbach being perhaps too small weight wise and squating too low for JC. Hopefully Thomas comes back healthy which means the right guard position is in good shape. Then RT.

I could see 1. Samuals, Dockery, Jansen, Thomas, Williams. or 2. Samuels, Dockery, Jansen, Bridges, Williams. In the second cenario the O-line would be hard to push around with the weight of the O-line simply by adding Bridges who is over 300 lbs also.

I put Jansen at Center cause his lateral movement has been declining, and cause of what the team said about his ass being higher for JC to be able to stand taller behind center. Plus I think he's probably heavier then Rahbach. I could be wrong though.
It seems to me to be an evolution of the fan base & a growing resentment towards the way the team operates. I know there are some mods on this site that have a better idea, or could crunch some comparisons of past April/post draft threads, but it seems to me that most post draft threads in the past were positive until maybe last year.

I remember so much hope on this site for guys like Molinaro, McCune & Broughton. I don't see that as much now for Glenn, Henson, Mitchell et al.
Well those guys suck. Guys Like Golston, Montgomery, Horton, and Moore, have been great picks and Vinny got a lot of shit for picking them. Don't forget Doughty and Blades. Biggest problem with our draft is we give to many picks away, not the way Vinny picks.

"I know I’m built for this game, no matter what. I can go out and do something else, but I’m made to hit people. So that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to hit them hard and hit them often.”

I'm going to remember this quote.

Re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams

I'm rooting for M.Williams to work out. I love following his weight loss and his work-ethic. Seems like a nice guy. But I was just reading up about him to see why a #4 pick went jobless. It's probably posted before, but here is a good article from April to remind us about his ankle and chronic back problems which sidelined him, missing 3-5 games each season. I'd hate to get our hopes up too much, and pin our season on his back.. Let's hope Heyer and possibly Bridges can both bring starter-caliber talent to the table.
"[Mike William's] second year was marred by an ankle injury that hobbled him for most of the season, forcing him to miss three games. He skipped voluntary mini-camps in 2004 for "personal reasons" and was fined for an unexcused absence in training camp. He started only five of the nine games he played before he was sidelined by a back injury during his final season, losing his job to a converted tight end."
...

"I don't know if he can be considered the biggest bust in Bills history, but he's close," John Murphy, the Bills radio analyst during Williams' tenure, said the other day over the telephone.

Williams signed to play with the Jacksonville Jaguars but spent the 2006 season on injured reserve with a bad back. The Oakland Raiders showed interest in signing him for 2007 but the back ached too much. He could no longer bend over. There was surgery for a herniated disk. His NFL career appeared over.

What's wrong with a rooting for a big overweight player from your team who's trying to get into shape? With so many people being overweight in this country, it's good to see an example of someone who's busting his ass to get into shape.
