Well I think you can say that about any offense, I don't get your correlation to the west coast offense.

JC was voted team captain by his teammates, and there have been plenty of comments made in his support these last few days. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, but I don't see where JC's lack of leadership is some sort of major issue. Certainly not more so than a bad offensive line and many other issues that plagued the offense this year.
Yes, I will agree to disagree.

Do you think JC's leadership was a bigger problem than say the OL this year? Or would we have won more games if he was simply a more vocal, take charge kind of guy?

You have the wrong idea of what a leader is and when he leads. He just doesn't lead in games, he also is a leader in practice, outside of practice. He gets people in line doing and thinking the right way or the redskins way -- so that way, the players and even coaches trust that everyone is prepared to do their best in games.

Seems to be unfair to ask that of any one player, but that's what the quarterback to me needs to be - a leader, THE leader.

... how the leader leads is up to the leader.

But, it seems that many here are forgetting that leadership needs 2 things: responsibility and Authority. I think Campbell has the responsibility as a qb, but often times the authority was pulled out from under him-that's my impression.

Why do you think he doesn't do these things?

Also, you didn't answer my question. If he was a "better leader" would we have won more games? Was his lack of leadership a bigger issue to you than the OL?

Well, I guess than JC already has one leg up on CP in the department. At least JC showed up and practiced.

There are different ways of being a leader. You can be a rah-rah type and be all up in people's faces or you can lead by example by being a good teammate, showing up to practice every day, attending all off season programs, and supporting your teammates by being positive and having a optimistic outlook rather than throwing them under the bus whenever you get a chance.

Extra practices with Kelly, Mitchell & Thomas this year to be on the same page. Do things without being told too.

He doesn't seem to do these things because they came to too many games unprepared.

And yes, coming into the games more prepared would have won them more games.

He was unprepared? I've never heard any complaints in regard to his work ethic on or off the field.

You win I give up trying to make any sense of this.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis

Maybe if Campbell had comforted Portis earlier in the season, or last year the team would not suck as much. I would like to see what Shanny and another real Offense Coordinator or QB coach can do with Campbell. Portis can kick rocks. He is getting old by RB standard we need a young homerun threat. I think it is true that he is a me guy. Yes he plays hard so time but why every time you turn around he is is taking his self out of the game for a breather. Just suck it up, maybe if he practices more, yes we talking about practice then he could have more stamina to last a game, not to mention he would be a little tougher and not get nicked up all the time. Love Portis but would love to see what the Raiders would give us for him. He is selfish person and would fit right in out there. Campbell needs to show that heart that he has now on the field and make more people accountable Santana Moss and ARE. Cant wait to see if Shanny puts up with that bull. I think not.

They -- as in team-- were unprepared.

Does that make sense to you now?
