Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I do, this team needs a number 1 and if we aren't drafting Blackmon or Floyd in the 1st then I wan't a WR in FA
Lots of receivers in this years draft look talented. I doubt we will give our second rounder away because I think they will use it on a WR. Trying to do what the Bengals did last year draft your starting QB and no 1 WR in the first two rounds. |
Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
When was the last time VJ got into trouble for his drug use? And if he's a concern cause he might get caught again and be sidelined then we might as well get rid of TW and Davis too since they are on their last leg also. No sense in taking risks.

That's what I was told last night. Seemed like 50-55 was what they were going to offer. |

The Redskins have plenty of young WR's...what they don't have is a legitimate #1WR. They are not going to find a player they can safely project as a #1 WR in the 2nd round of the draft. |

Yeah, I mean that's sort of the general expected dollar amount that's been around for him. Just didn't know the Redskins specifically had anything attached to him |
Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I think we'll sign Melvin Bullet..
I'm happy with Gomes but Bullet has started as SS for the past couple of years for Indy |
Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I would like to see Byron Westbrook at strong safety more. He's not a good cover corner, but he's good enough to barely not get beat. He could make an exceptional strong safety.
Part of the reason the Snyderatto strategy rarely worked is because they kept going after skill players without a QB. As long as the Redsins plan to get a quality QB then a big time receiver like VJax has a chance to work here in DC, otherwise it will be Brandon Lloyd all over again.
Gaffney had over 900 yards with Bex at the helm. Vjax couldn't do any better than that? He only had 1100 yards with Rivers. Hell, Moss had 1500 yards with Brunell. Depends on what you mean by "work out". Rex to VJax probably wouldn't amount to many more wins, if any at all, but I don't think VJax would have any problems posting the same numbers. Rex can sling it around just fine. He just throws too many INTs. Lloyd is a bad example. He couldn't even get on the field. |

not sure how you can say he would be a good strong safety, especially in our D where the strong safety is required to make alot of tackles and be involved in run support. i havent seen anything in westbrook to think he is capable of that, i think we are going to regret letting laron go if we cant find a good replacement. |

His problem was DUIs not drugs if I remember correctly, and the last time he got into trouble was before the 2009 season's playoffs. DUS (driving under suspended license) that he received on his way to the Chargers last home playoff game. |

Westbrook is one of those defenders who is a decent tackler. If he's capable of lining up against a solid wideout, then he can play safety. As a matter of fact, safety is easier to play than corner back. If Rod Woodson can do it, then so can any other corner. I just feel Westbrook would make a better safety than he a corner. I don't think the Redskins will miss Landry much. It's like the defense hasn't been without him much. The defense has been without Landry more than with him so the defense has survived. Reed Doughty, despite not being an Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, Roy Williams, or even a Brian Dawkins, is good enough to play SS. But the Redskins do need to have Doughty play a more reserve role and if not sign someone, stick with Gomes or give Westbrook a shot at it. |
Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I went back a couple of pages to read what DC tailgate and Smoot were talking about.
That is a big deal for an aging WR. PM to VJ all day? |
Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Trading for an offensive tackle wouldn't be such a bad idea. Maurice Hurt should be given an opportunity to start at right tackle. I'd be really surprised if the Redskins retain Jamaal Brown.

I rather have Willie Smith shift to RT, he proved last year he could play, he faced some of the best pass rushers and held his own. |
