He took a wicked shot he had no business taking yesterday. I'm surprised he didn't have a concussion off it.
Is that Brandon Merriweather's pet?

If it was, that first shot would have never been to the hip.
If he keeps this up, I can see us getting a bunch of much needed extra picks for next years draft. (FD, Helu and Cousins). Not that I think we should trade Cousins, but I think that we will, and we'll get a 2nd and a 4th for him, somewhere around there.
Now why would you trade Helu? You have to have a backup to spell Morris, I wouldn't do it. I love Helu, he adds another dimension to the offense, we still haven't seen him do what he does best, the screen pass. Helu=a poor mans Larry Centers with lots of potential.
His hearing has to be within 72 hours I believe. Either way the appeal will happen before the next game
Man, we gets no breaks lol. I swear everytime another player gets suspended, it's like 2 weeks or more before his appeal is heard. But it happens to one of our guys and we only get 72 hours? Oh well. My last hope is that his punishment gets reduced to one game, seeing as how precedent has been set from other appeals on suspensions for hard hits. But Merriweather is a longtime offender so we'll see.
Can't help but think that Meriweather is being targeted by the refs to a degree. Yeah some of his hits this year have been questionable, but I thought the calls on him yesterday were really ticky tacky. Gotta feel bad for defenders these days. I really don't know what they're supposed to do.
I don't think they are targeting him as much as thy are targeting players like him. The dude can't tackle. He has some of the worst fundamentals out there. He almost always leaves his feet, which they are calling almost every time now. He also never ever ever wraps up. When he leaves his feet he usually crosses his arm and leads with his forearms. It's basically the same as leading with your helmet.

If he would stay on the ground, drive through the tackle and wrap up he won't get fined. He keeps leaving his feet he will continue to get flagged, fined and suspended.

So what everyones thoughts on how they will try and contain Manning? Are they are going to have sell out and and play pass every down? It will be interesting to see what Haslett comes up with given the personnel he will have at his disposal. Hopefully Rambo finally shows up and Gumbs comes through....

I mean, they'll sell out and challenge his declining arm strength and force him to throw down the field with pressure on him. Manning will respond probably by using that tunnel screen he loved so much. He used that a lot in 2010.

I think I trust our corners against their quick passing game. Gotta bring a lot of pressure this week because there's nothing the Redskins can do if they leave their safeties back in coverage.

I think we're about as strong a team from scrimmage as we're capable of being. If the game was just offense and defense, the Redskins would have a pretty decent chance this week. Problem is the special teams disparity is going to be somewhere between 10 and 14 points in this game that we have to make up elsewhere (Denver is better at special teams than any other team in football), and I don't think we're quite good enough offensively to make up that disparity.

I feel like we'll definitely see a heavy dose of the running game, they'll probably try to keep Peyton off the field by controlling the clock. I definitely think there's a good chance Peyton will pick us apart when he has the ball, so our best chance of winning is by not letting him have the ball.

I think the only way for the Skins to beat the Broncos is for the Skins to get the ball last in a shootout.

Let's just accept that they are going to score a lot of points. With that as a given, I would take chances on defense, hoping for a turnover or two.

On offense, I would scour the playbook for some plays to use that nobody has seen yet this season.

On Special Teams, I would empasize kicking the ball through the endzone on kickoffs and out of bounds on punts. I would rather have a 30-yard net punt than let them have a 70-yard punt return for a TD.

A win against the Broncos would be huge! I say throw caution to the wind and try to steal one in Denver.

Is this the thread to point out that LaRon Landry, who is not here in part because of his propensity for personal fouls, is rated as a top ten safety this year by PFF? I know a team that could use that kind of player!

The first hit on Jeffrey was 100% legal. To me that's a football play and a little bit of targeting there. Just like the hit last week against Suh on Weedon. The NFL is out to get some guys. 30k for a completely legal hit? C'mon... If ST was still alive and playing I'm not sure he could even play in today's cream puff league.

What's so frustrating is Merton Hanks is the main culprit who's handing out these fines and suspensions. He was a DB so I'm not sure why he goes so overboard with it.

That's great for him, but what does living in the past do for us? He's not here anymore, and when he was here, he was constantly injured and refusing surgery to treat his injuries. Best of luck to him, because I'd rather focus on who we have on the team.

No matter how well the Redskins can sustain their drives, they still have to kick the ball back to Manning at the conclusion of the drive.

But with that in mind, I'd put in at least one surprise onside kick play to try and steal a possession (as well as not having to cover a kick) from Denver.

What would absolutely kill us is if Shanahan pusses out and kicks a field goal in a fourth and short situation. That would be the very definition of beating oneself.

They have a few guys out on their o-line. Gotta get pressure and knock him around a bit. Can't let him sit back there and have all day or we have no chance. But the NFL is in love with Peyton so anyone that touches him is subject to a fine/suspension.
