I told you, But welcome back Springs and welcome a win any win against anybody. |
I liked the play call but you only make that call knowing you go for it if you don't get the first or score. Why we kicked is baffling to me. I think a little of Holmgren's poor game management must have seeped in.
Exactly. If you are going to kick on 4th down, you call your highest half yard conversion play on 3rd and a half yard. Which means you call a QB sneak.
You can't have a plan on the 3rd down call, and then totally change your mind on the 4th down call. That's ridiculous. |
Seatle was holding all day. Almost every run play someone was holding. On kick offs I counted more push in the backs all day then I can count on one hand.
Oh and go Cardinals.
I noticed it a lot too. Not the normal no-call holds but a lot of just plain bad holds. The big Morris run in the first half came off of a big hold on Smoot. It was out in the open and obvious. They didn't call a hold all day did they? |
A win is a win, but none come easy for this team. At least we're still in the hunt. If we can win one of either NY or Baltimore, that would be a HUGE plus.
Right now we can't afford to lose, we're hanging on to that 6th playoff spot with Dallas (7-4), Minny (6-5), and Atlanta (6-4) lurking. Dallas is playing an easy game at home vs. Seattle; Atlanta is playing @ San Diego, which is prob not bad since SD just got some relieve by the Denver loss so hopefully they'll be fired up; and Minnsota has an easy game @ Detroit. We slip, and these teams can grab that spot. |

I agree. Betts forward progress had been stopped. 3 Seatle players hit him after wards and I was wondering why the refs had not blown the call dead. instead they allow the players to keep hitting him and lose the ball. |

The refs are as bad as I've ever seen them. |

I hope him getting beat by a 35 yr. old Branch was a fluke. |
Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
Good that we won. Portis is a beast and Jason was pretty efficient. Defense was a little shaky at times but they sure did come through when it was important!

No one bashes his play it's his willingness to play hurt like every other player in the league, Let's just pray he stays healthy |
Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
All I have to say is thank God for Shawn Springs. I was ready to start a thread about Ladell Betts.
I don't believe that his forward progress was stopped for long enough to blow the whistle. Ladell did a horrible job of covering up the ball before contact. I can' believe that when you know the defense intends to try to strip you, you allow it to happen. I'm still beside myself. |
I hope him getting beat by a 35 yr. old Branch was a fluke.
To me that was as bad a play as Springs will make and it took a perfectly executed pass and catch to do it. That throw was Hasselbeck's best all day. He was beat bya step inside but he wasn't beat enough for it to eb a catch and run and with most QBs that play has a 10% chance of working. Not trying to rationalize but you do have to consider how good a play it was. |
Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
Titans tripped today. Yeah. I just wish the Giants would trip more.

It was, he was all over him and Branch just made a great catch. By the way, I believe Springs is older than Branch by 4 years. |
Where are all the Springs bashers now?
Glad to have Springs back. However for next season he's too much money for the amount of playtime. He's $7 mill and will play just over half the season. This is one of the reasons they're giving Hall an audition. |
Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
I'm really hoping for a miracle next wk, I think we'll play our best ball of the season, Considering the Taylor tribute and everything, I also think we match up pretty well with them, I mean if Springs was on buress in that 1st game we very well could've won they only scored 16 we have to find a way to get to eli and protect Campbell. The Campbell draw option could come in real handy GO SKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
On the realistic note, it's pretty sad that we can only beat a 2-8 team by 3 points. Top competitors have been crushing this team. I wince about next week.
|
Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
Simple game plan for next week... stack the box and play man coverage. Our secondary is playing really good now with Springs back and Hall getting more comfortable. The Giants three-pronged attack (hopefully Jacobs will still be out) is tough. Eli's spreading the ball around, so look to limit FB and TE catches.

I think we'll win next week. Our CB's can contain their WR's which comes to their running game which I hope we can control this time. I believe our receiving corp will improve now that Sellers is being used more, Kelly is healthy and I think maybe Thomas gets more reps. |
Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
I am going to say this one time and I have said any many times before. Betts is garbage. For all those who before the beginning of the season said we should trade Portis take your foot out your mouth now!!
Betts is garbage. He hasn't done squat this year. CP is the man and Tip Toe, Rock and Betts together can't equal CP. We should have kept Mason. If we get a chance. We better pick him back up at the end of the season and still pick up someone very late in the draft or in free agency and let Betts go. This is not just because he fumble but because he sucks..He had one good year he is overrated and we wasted a good opportunity not trading him when he was playing good behind a good offensive line and people thought he was a hot commodity (and I dont want to hear anything about him being injured because Portis jsut came of injury too). Let the hating begin.... HTTR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO SKINS!!!!!! |
Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
We've got to stop the running game next week against the Giants. Their three RB are destroying teams every week.
On any given Sunday, a team can win. |

Not to question your spirit here, but I am sure we we be at least 10 pt underdogs. Seattle ran all over us...especially targeting our small ends. I am sure the Gmen will do this too. And remember....we need to score to win. Revenge would be sweet...but looking at the teams we barely beat and the ones that stomped on us...it is just not a good pattern to look forward to. I am just trying to be objective here. It is easily the least likely game to win the rest of the season...and it may even be more difficult that our first playoff game...assuming we make it. |

he still should have went down. The purpose is to run out the clock not to try and score...He wasn't down. Maybe they should have stopped it for forward progress maybe not. But eitehr way he wasn't down and it was a fumble. Protect the freaking ball. |
Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
The reason the Cowboys and the Seahawks were able to run on the Skins is because of the defensive alignment. The Redskins lineup four defensive linemen, head to head accross the offensive front and drop the three linebackers 5-7 yards deep straight back of the line. That creates a natural seam off tackle and that's were team are exploiting the Skins against the run. The Skins need to make an adjustment to counter this. If not, the Giants are going to run all over them.

I don't think anyone is whining but everyone is so butthurt about the fumble, you'd think we'd lost instead of won. |
Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
Only 2 penalties all game, that's very good. One of them was the ridiculous Moss punch

Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
well our fans.......at least some on this gameday post are the ones who suck! They love to say that the Redskins suck....but its really them with their lack of loyalty, support and negativity. Maybe they should follow another team because with support from some of these guys, the redskins are better off without them!

Re: The official Skins/Seahawks game thread
And to all the ones who said our oline sucks........Portis leads the NFL once again in rushing! He s not doing it ALL by himself! Glad to hear him praise his oline!
