Re: Haynesworth is Behaving Selfishly
Funny that you dismissed the three guys from the Colts that I mentioned compared to AH. I think it is harder to build team chemistry with three guys out than just one.
Anyway, I brought up those guys from the Colts (and others who are doing the same) to show that players skipping voluntary workouts/OTAs is a normal thing in this league and people need to stop crying about it. If players/coaches/fans/etc., etc., are so concerned about players skipping voluntary workouts/OTAs then they should make all workouts/OTAs mandatory. Horrible showing of Bidwell...horrible. :smashfrea
Like I said to Mattyk the reason means alot to the other players .We sometimes forget that this is still a business and if it's for legit business reasons the other players understand . I just don't believe it's a normal thing but it is a league wide thing and every team is having the same peoblem and most likely will be address if they ever get another contract . |
I wonder why Giantone has such an interest in AH not being in camp. I'd guess he would perfer if AH is not on the team. Giantone do you know what AH stands for when we are playing against the Giants? Again Homeboy That's what AH will be saying when he is getting up off Ecry.
LOL , ya might want to go back and read some of my posts. |

What exactly are the different reasons here? |

Reading comprehension,my response was to Firstdown and his comment that I want AH"gone" from the Skins. If he would read some of my posts in this thread he and maybe yourself would understand that I feel all players should be there, yes it is volentary but unless it is a contractual thing(not having one) a player needs to be there .These things build team chemistry and sometimes that is more important then individual talent. |

Not sure of the question but I'll try.AH didn't like the coach last year or what they made him do and so the old was thrown out and he doesn't seem to like the new defense coming in this year,so what do you do to make him happy and far do you go to make him happy ,don't you think that other players would like to stay at home and work out ?As for the example of the Colts players from what I understand all 3 have contract issues with the team ,if they come and get hurt without a contract ...well ? I said this is a league wide thing and it is , every team has these issues the Giants had them with Plax ...he'd work in Florida instead of getting his timing down with Eli in NY. No one player is better then the rest, you have a new head coach ,and D coodinator and a new defensive scheme coming in even the most war tested vet should be there . |

And Reggie Wayne, for one, does have a contract right now but he wants a new one. Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne to skip mandatory minicamp - ESPN |
Re: Haynesworth is Behaving Selfishly
I think AH's situation is different from most who skip the voluntary's because it's not related to his contract(and thus the business side) in any way. I don't know all the players who are not attending the voluntary's, but most of them do it to make a business statement. AH's missing seems to be completely about his own idea of what best for him versus the team's idea of what's best. To that extent yes he is being selfish.
But, it is voluntary, and he doesn't have to show. MS and BA both clearly understand that concept, so , we fans need to just step back, and realize that these men are all professionals, and hope for the best once mandatory practices and training camp start. |

Re: Haynesworth is Behaving Selfishly
I asked myself this question today:
"Do you thing AH would be in camp if we were running a 4-3?" I answered myself with a "Nope... not really." If he doesn't show for mini-camp, or shows up out of shape then I may have some issues. |
I asked myself this question today:

If he doesn't show for mini-camp, or shows up out of shape then I may have some issues.
If we were running a 4-3, it wouldnt even be remotely important for Haynesworth to be here to begin with. He'd be playing the same position he had for his entire career. His absence wouldnt hurt the team or his readiness for the season. I would actually view it as a positive, since his reps would be going to a new/younger player who could actually use the experience. However, since we are running a 3-4, and players and coaches have unamiously indicated he'll be very far behind when he shows up, it IS a concern. If he doesnt show up for minicamp or shows up out of shape, then the concern increases exponentially. And this isnt even considering the additional implications related to the rumored reasons for Haynesworth's absence. His absence IS a big deal. Its putting him behind the rest of the team in preparedness for the regular season and, as our best defensive player, it will hurt the entire team. All that being said, I'm one of the people here most irked by this whole situation and even I'm tired of talking about it. At this point, i'm far more interested in hearing about the players that are actually participating in OTAs and the Westbrook and Otogwe rumors (I say yes to Westbrook, Yes to Otogwe, and bye-bye to Willie Parker). |
Re: Haynesworth is Behaving Selfishly
Fatal Bert is not going to show up out of shape. If there is any truth that he would like to get on another team, he definitely will be in great shape. If not and he plans (or has to) play for the Skins, then he has to be in great shape. He is probably (in his mind) going to be auditioning for other teams. If none of that takes place, he will be the BLOB and out of work.

This thread hasn't run it's course yet? wow.

Re: Haynesworth is Behaving Selfishly
I know, things are getting pretty boring when this is all there is to talk about. I would really like to see that Westbrook has signed with the Redskins. Now, that would be entertaining and start a hoopla of conversation!

Reggie Wayne has 2 years remaining on a 6 year 40 mill deal and he wants a new fatter contract at the age of 31? I would seriously try to trade his ass.

Not to knock on him but Manning makes anyone in to a threat. Our recieving corp. would be amazing if Manning was working with them. Reggie isn't going to do anything if he goes some where else. |

It didn't sound like the media would be allowed to be there so hopefully it will only be Redskins Nation and the media frenzy will be somewhat small. Later at the camp in July it won't be a big issue any more cause everyone knows AH is showing up to the manditory camps. |

Wishful thinking. Whether they are allowed in or not the media is going to be all over this... don't kid yourself. |

You can believe Jason Reid/RI will find somethng negative to blog about Haynesworth (even if he has to text teammates) despite the fact mass media will be absent. From the end of April through May JR posted approx. 40 blogs, 21 were about Haynesworth and all virtually saying the same thing. I look for Haynesworth to be a constant topic of discussion, for better or worse, for the duration of this season and maybe beyond. |

Does it really matter if practice is closed or not? The media is still in the building, in the parking lot, etc. They've been on this story like stink on shit all offseason. Now that something is actually going to happen with AH showing up, you really think the story is going to die down or be quiet? |

If the guy shows up in shape then the media bs will go away. He's still going to have to learn all the defenses but being in shape will calm some of the hoopla.

AH isn't going to get a joyful welcome from MS:

BHA, I did not take the Reid tweet quote from Hall to be damning in any way. It was simply a statement of fact: If AH no-shows, he gets fined.
