Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
Chris Canty just signed with the Giants with a 6year/42M dollar contract.
THE NFC BEAST IS GETTING ANGRIER! Per NFL Network Breaking News. |
Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
Nice move by the Giants, are they thinking Canty, Robbins, Bernard, Osi as their starting line? Where does that leave Kiawanuka? Back at LB?
|
Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
Can't believe the Patriots might get Peppers. They certainly have the ammo, plus you put Peppers on that defense it's like Belicheck is playing Chess with mostly Queens (Seymour, Wilfolk, Mayo, and possibly Peppers).

NFL Network is currently blowing up their defensive line as the thing to watch out for this year. They're saying they are going to be the most formidable group in the whole NFC East. They're also saying the the Skins and Eagles need to shore up their OT spots in order to keep up with the Giants pass attack. |

Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
I am glad they can only play 11 players on D at one time. Also, Skinny, how does this fit the earlier discussion, when their obvious weaknesses are the WR and DB's, not there DL. If we don't have enough depth, isn't there a point of too much depth at one point. After all, they get Usi back this year as well.

I heard this somewhere (espn?) but can't remember exactly. I'm gonna play a little devil's advocate and just say the G-men will be lucky to maintain the same defensive dominance, even with all these recent additions, because they're missing Spags. The defense wasn't really fantastic before he got there and they had pretty phenom players back then too. ... things will be more even in the NFC east this year unless the cowpokes continue to suffer locker room issues and the eagles don't upgrade anywhere, in which case I think we'll be pushing hard on the G-men all year. Actually Dallas has some real work to do losing Canty and still stuck w/ the shitty set of corners. I hope they think springs is the answer at corner :D |

But the word is that we're going to loose our two games against the Giants because of their ridiculous defensive line. |

I'm playing man, playing with all these people praising the hell out of the Giants. Maybe we can convince Osi Umeniyora to get a travel show like Dhani Jones (I just saw a commercial for his show). LOL. |

Regardless of what they do, they'll have a nice rotation. Don't forget about Justin Tuck. Canty can play end or tackle, so can Tuck. Kiawanuka can play linebacker and end. They can rotate guys around. Slide Canty inside and rush Kiawanuka from the end position on passing downs I'd assume. Great move for them. |

Being that they finished with a 12-4 record they didn't seem to suffer from the lack of depth at WR or DB. They moved the ball well enough with Jacobs and Ward going over 1000 yards behind their OL. In a game with this much high intensity impact there is no such thing as too much depth....Hell, we apparently also have an endless supply of money so that is not holding us back. |

Their fans, and commentators, acknowledge that their depth there is a question mark. They have had the same line together for 2-3 seasons with no injuries. That is a huge advantage for any team. I am pretty confident that if our line had gone with no injuries for that same time we would have had a better offensive showing. I think that we will pick up another OL guy in free agency, and then Rinehart/Geisinger will be backups. (maybe one more OT backup out of the FA as well but we will see) |

I could see letting Thrash go if it meant getting a solid lineman or Hunter Smith. (although if he stays I'm good with that as I like the guy's heart for the game) |
