Can we all at least agree that Lil' Danny's line about "learning patience from Coach Gibbs" is complete nonsense now?

They had to know that this was really a huge gamble. If the trade didn't go through you have to come crawling back -- is this something Gibbs would have done? I don't think so.

Who are they crawling back too? This is not the Senior Prom Dan didn't ask Sexy Sally out and now has to go back to Plain Jane and see if she will go cause Sexy Sally said no.

IF you are a NFL player you need to look at yur body of work regardless where you are playing. Campbell is building a career he wants to do well this year regardless of the color of his uniform. You think Campbell is going to stink it up as a way to throw Danny under the bus? No way he is not going to ruin his career over Danny.

This is professional sports they are palying for money not team pride.

Yeah I agree. I don't see this being a long term issue at all. JC seems well equiped to handle this and he's shown nothing but class through all of it. I anticipate he will come to Redskins Park and work his butt off to get ready for this season, if anything this will motivate him even more.
It's not testing the market that bothers me. It's the way we handle it. Apparently there were about a dozen other teams "testing the market" for Cutler's services. Did any of them have a "GM" or HC come out and say their current starter was the guy, there was no interest in Cutler, and then backtrack a week later?
Every team has different situations. I think the Skins were really the only team in the running that already had a young QB that was perceived as being the long term answer by most experts. And up until a few days ago, Cutler wasn't officially on the market. So at the time the Skins technically weren't pursuing Cutler so why would they say anything different?
I hope all you fairweather, flaky, cowboy loving, Jason Campbell(solid NFL QB) bashing/hating, so called competative football fans feel stupid. Listening to Espn sportcenter jerks and idiots gets you know where! This should be a lesson to you. Watch and love Redskin football and don't jump on every reality show, soap opera you see on TV. There is enough groupies in the world! Redskins aren't drama groupies! We are pro football minds and men like Jason Campbell! I hope all you Jay Cutler groupies jump on the Bears bandwagon and eat a fat one!
I hope you feel stupid too then
thank goodness for the bears.

any idea what our final offer was? I have a feeling we came within a few minutes of securing cutler
According to Peter King our offer really wasn't the issue, McDaniels simply preferred Orton to run his offense so once that was decided other offers really didn't matter.

Can we now trade Campbell for julius peppers?? I mean he knows that he's not wanted, and we don't have a DE opposite carter and wynn and daniels are not the answer ...bring in Brennan

I think I mentioned a while back that the Broncos never really wanted Campbell

Orton better then Campbell, ok if he says so. At least McDaniels saved us from shooting ourselves in the foot.

I still remember (admittedly vaguely) when Gibbs went 0-5, he responded by going to JoeyT and those two got on the same page, and had a great run. My hope would be that Jim Zorn's response and affirmation to Campbell could have the same effect, and we see these two guys running an offense that is in sync out of the gates.

It's all about what someone values. McDaniels thinks Orton is a better fit for his offense, he may not necessarily think Orton is a better overall player, just a better fit. Remember what started all of this was McDaniels wanting Cassell. Again, a better fit than Cutler, not necessarily the better player.

I don't really know where that came from anyways. During the Gibbs years we had more turnover of the roster and acquisition misses (Brunell, Archuleta, Lloyd to name a few) than we did since 2000. I've said before and will say again, the Gibbs 2.0 era set our franchise back 8-10 years (the 4 years he was here and the 4 it will take to revise our roster) and we're still trying to recover from it.

Re: It's Over: Cutler Going to Chicago

I wish we could some how collect all the post after say the Eagles victory last season. Man people were loving JC. I think he can still do it, it is really going to come down to the OL and the development of our young WR. Cutler would have had the same struggles here regardless.

A QB is not like a pitcher in baseball, there are many more moving parts that are out of his control as compared to a pitcher. That is why comparing the win/ loss column with QB's is a joke.
