Re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
Williams injured his knee a bit today...it sounds like he just fell down. We'll see how this goes.
-- WILLIAMS INJURED Mike Williams suffered what appeared to be a knee injury during Monday’s OTA practice. “He went to the ground one time on a block and jammed his knee into the ground,” Jim Zorn said. “It was just sore.” Williams has been seeing increased action during OTAs as he continues to reduce his weight to under 380 pounds. Added Zorn: “It was a lot of beef to put on the ground so suddenly. We just took him off the field. I think he’s going to be fine.” |
Re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
I have been waiting for an update on Williams knee and have heard nothing. Anyone have an update

Probably nothing to worry about...Zorn pretty much said so at the time. |

Matt Terl's blog today mentions that Mike Williams has a pulled quad muscle, according to Zorn. On The Field For The Last Day Of OTAs |
Re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
Seems to me that we are expecting Mike Williams to make the team as a backup OT, which, seems like a plan that we would end up regretting. But ultimately, it freed us up to get rid of Jansen.
Jon Jansen, drafted in '99 - 7 quality NFL seasons Mike Williams, drafted in '02 - 0 quality NFL seasons Goin with the young guy! |
Re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
The blogger at Redskins.com says that Mike Williams now weighs in at 365!
Redskins Blog -- The Official Blog of the Washington Redskins His playing weight before he took time off from football was 370-375. If he can get down to 350-55 he really might be able to play! |

I think the criticism was whether he would make the commitment needed to succeed. Obviously, he has made a commitment to lose enough weight to be able to compete. Maybe through desperation we found a gem! |
Re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
Man that's some serious weight loss. The obvious question now is can the guy play?
I'd love to see him have some sort of comeback player of the year story but I admit I'm still in the doubter camp. If he can at least be a quality backup and give us some meaningful snaps here and there I'll be happy. Anything beyond that is pure gravy. |
Re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
Much agreed Matty, anything positive that he can do for the team would be great.

The guy had the talent i just think somewhere along he lost the drive hopefully he's found it for us. If he's able to be a quality backup for us that would be nice.

And seriously, aren't we, as a fan base FINALLY due for something like this? |
Re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
I am kind of suprised that there has not been more national attention payed to this story. It is truely amazing and alot better than another Bret story.
