Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
Kelly Johnson said during the post-game that her best Gruden source says Gruden believes the QB carousel he was handed in his final years in Tampa ultimately led to his firing, and he's really only interested in going to a team that has an established starter. I don't know if that situation will present itself for Gruden, but that's certainly not the case here.
I didn't quite hear the same thing. My understanding has been that Gruden wants his own QB if he's going to take over anywhere (but maybe I misunderstood), and he was the one (at the suggestion of Doug Williams) who pushed for the Bucs to draft Josh Johnson last year (but again, maybe I misunderstood) I still haven't heard that he's interested in this job anyway. He seems to be having a lot of fun what he's doing right now. But I do think he'll coach somewhere next year and Bruce Allen will be back in the league somewhere as well. You'd assume together, but who knows. |
Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
bring back MARTY! at least he would make us a solid team, even if he does play marty ball in the playoffs.

See this why I want Marty for GM. I "assume" his son has learned the same system he runs and perhaps his son can take a team farther then he ever has but he(Marty) would know the type of players needed for the system which is why I'm interested in this combo. Plus either Marty was good at evaluating talent or he surounded himself with people who could so either way our team would have talented players. Hopefully starting with the O-line. |
Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
Looking back, most of Marty's teams were solid in the trenches.

Dream on Boy's Marty's not coming...
IF DS and VC were to tell Gruden they would draft the QB he wanted then im sure he would think about it. Maybe bring in Garcia who knows the WCO to get us by until the rook was ready.
I don't think Garcia and Gruden are to crazy about each other. |
Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
Maybe Jeff Fisher will be available!
(If Tennessee makes a bad decision to fire him) |
Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
After yesterday's game I'll take anybody, just get a warm body out there to coach.

Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
I heard that Snyder wants Joe Gibbs to come back as president. Gibbs would then select his own GM. Personally I don’t think it’s a good idea myself. It depends on who would decide we would pick in the draft and sign as free agents. The offensive line needs to get well fast in order to have a chance of winning in the near term.

GM first, coach second....nuff said!

Re: Sources: Gruden the front runner
Not so sure about Gruden and the fit with Dan. Gregg Williams should certainly have another shot to be a HC in this league somewhere again next season IMO, it will be interesting to see where he lands.
