Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I think I see what you were trying to say here is another reason to wait.... but we dont' have to wait till Sat at 4pm we only have to wait till Fri. at 4pm.
As part of the settlement, a moratorium will be in effect from now until 4 p.m. ET on Friday, September 17. During the moratorium, any club interested in trading for Jackson must receive advance permission from the Chargers before speaking with Jackson's representatives about possible contract terms. Trade compensation must be negotiated directly with the Chargers. San Diego may not trade Jackson until after the moratorium has expired.
I think we would have to talk with the Chargers to get permission, then agree on terms with VJ, then agree with the Chargers for compensation, and wait till after 4pm Fri when the Chargers can actually make the trade. |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
The rumor stated that Vincent Jackson and his agent had a 1 year deal in place with a potential trade partner before AJ Smith nixed it. To me that doesn't sound like the Redskins but then again we don't even have a deal with our franchise QB.

I need a log to track all my conspiracy theories, unfortunately that might only prove how silly I am. Anyway conspiracy theory #1923:
Haynesworth's ankle is fine, but we know we are trading him in a 3 way deal with Tennessee and SD, so we are keeping him off the field so he doesn't get hurt. The deal is all but done from the other week and now we just need to wait until 4pm saturday to make it so!
Ok, I'll be the village idiot.... why do we have to wait till 4 pm Saturday? Why not just go ahead and get it done now? I mean the Chargers have from what?.... Wed of this week to Fri of next to get something done or he serves a full 7 games suspension? What is the significance of Saturday?
Sorry, I was really assuming that it would take the day to get a deal done, we could start talking tomorrow is my understanding, and have a deal in place Saturday. |

I've been thinking the same thing; however, I really would have assumed it would have been done last Monday after Dallas. But, maybe they were just waiting for the ruling on Jackson...but like you said it's a theory and probably nothing more. |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
A win-win for everyone. Another scenario would be for a three-way trade with the Texans, as they play the 4-3 and could use a Haynesworth-type in their defense.
Also, we wouldn't give up any draft picks. Another plus, IMO. |

hell, why not try and trade for Andre Johnson...that would never happen, but a guy can dream can't he |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I say we give DT#11 a chance to prove he's Showtime this weekend .. let him be the #2 guy and let em rip on a couple deep balls and some reverse action ... if we still don't feel good i think we look into picking up VJ ... the time is NOW to win the NFC East

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
It doesn't sound like to me that the Skins are even showing interest in pursuing Jackson. I don't know if that means they are content with what we have or they just don't want to get into a bidding war with the other teams.

They might be.

I'd rather see if he can catch passes from the #2 spot before designing cute little reverses for DT. We saw what happens last week when an offense breaks its flow for the sake of getting the ball to a "play maker" (read: Dez Bryant on two screen passes). Still it would be smart to see if Thomas can play before making another serious offer for VJax. Especially considering that VJax wouldn't even be able to talk to the coaches until after his suspension was up (assuming I'm understanding the terms of the suspension correctly). |

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
I'm glad he did...if we traded 2 Numer 1 draft picks for this dickhead to get paid and be a BUM i'd be so pissed.
when are we going to learn you can't give these guys max contracts and expect results. you need to give them incentive based contracts. |
Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
Couldn't agree more TG34.. That's why Rookie caps will be great. Sam Bradford just got 50M for what? Being the number 1 pick? That's a joke. Let these guys prove they can play before you pay.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
If the Chargers want 2 big picks for him they can deal with him sitting the bench and switching cities next year. If they can't go fire sale they can go f themselves in my opinion. Is proving a point worth losing it all? That's their question to answer. I'd offer up a 2 years from now 2nd and a next year 4th maximum.

Re: V. Jackson "Prepared to Sit out season"
^ Part of our problem (I think) is our #3 and our #4 are tied up next yr. Depending on how McNabb does depends on which we send to Philli. The other goes to the Saints for the OL we picked up. So we have picks in rounds 1,2,5,6,7. Maybe we can offer this yrs 5th and a 2nd in 2011? I don't know.
I will say this about Thomas though. I was excited when we picked up both Thomas and Kelly. Kinda pissed we picked up Kelly already injured and needing surgery but we did. Kelly got a pass the first yr due to injury. Thomas really didn't shine, hardly saw the field. So WR's supposedly have a 3 yr improvement plan and shine in their 3rd yr according to some but Thomas didn't improve his second yr (hardly) and Kelly was injured again. This is the pairs 3rd yr, their bust out yr supposedly and Kelly is injured once again and Thomas is now what 4th, 5th on the depth chart? Maybe he's just not as good as some of you want to believe, and your holding out hope he gets over some invisible hump that he might not ever get over. I saw potential in Mason and after 3 yrs of no improvement and a HC knowing what he's doing by letting him go I had to come to grips with the fact that Mason was just not as good as I thought. So to with Thomas. If we can get VJ then get him... we need a WR with his type of talent... I don't care who it is and we are starting to look at slim picking now. But I'm honestly done holding out hope Thomas will step up and be "the man." Pretty bad when an undrafted WR steps up and looks better then a second rounder. Thomas should be embarrased. |
