Man...imagine these moments as they happened


The code name for Bin Laden was “Geronimo.” The president and his advisers watched Leon E. Panetta, the C.I.A. director, on a video screen, narrating from his agency’s headquarters across the Potomac River what was happening in faraway Pakistan.

“They’ve reached the target,” he said.

Minutes passed.

“We have a visual on Geronimo,” he said.

A few minutes later: “Geronimo EKIA.”

Enemy Killed In Action. There was silence in the Situation Room.

Finally, the president spoke up.

“We got him.”

Yeah that situation room must have been super intense. I would have chewed all my nails off.

Wasn't he still a ally back then? I think so. I think it was Clinton that initially put the order out on Osama, and both he and GWB have vested interest in this campaign/target.

I think it is funny that they got food from Costco for this. Like the WH kitchen could not make something up for all of them?

True. I mean certainly the last three Presidents have the most vested interest in this. I just wondered what the protocol was, if any, to inform all past presidents when there is major news.
