You're assuming that I'm assuming that I care about how people are led. Well guest what, the scope of my statement focused solely on the "how" with no mention or innuendo that the "take-charge" guy is "better" than the "lead by example" boy. |

So, JC's way of talking is not aesthetically pleasing to you, so hence you use displeasure as a way of proving he's "not a leader". How boneheaded is that? Not to mention, I don't think you played on the team in the first place. |

I'm probably agreeing with you.

Re: Training camp 2011 thread
So back to the topic:
It seems that Hankerson is doing well out there. I'd like to see what he can do when they have full-pads practice and in the first preseason game. Also, I look forward to see what Jenkins can do as well. It's a bummer that Kerrigan got hurt though, hopefull this doesn't affect his development too much. |

Well, imo, to most sports fans, the effect of leadership matters more than "how it's done". There is usually not much info available to the fans to say anything too conclusive about any player's ability to lead or how he does it But I'm not sure if I agree wholly that the distinction shouldn't be drawn at all, since different styles may, and at least sometimes do, affect the follower's behavior and emotions in different ways. Of course, this stuff is more usful for the managers, executives, and academic researchers. |

Actually I have good information that the JC huddle issues had more to do with the fact that he led a "Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay" sing-along before he called each and every play. Have you ever tried to whistle with a mouthguard? JC is the most naturally tranquilized field general I think that probably has ever taken a snap in an actual NFL game. |

But Rex Grossman would've had the time to sing the entire song before throwing a deep ball perfectly across his body to a triple covered wideout for the game winning touchdown pass. |
Re: Training camp 2011 thread
In the end people will draw distinctions between leadership styles because it is human nature to group/view people in that way, whether we ought to or ought not to think of things like that.
It is more important realize the groupings we make, do not matter if the ends are attained. |

Grossman makes one read and goes deep. JC makes three check down reads before taking a cat nap and only then is he ready to dump the ball off to the RB for a three yard loss on third and twelve. I choose the sexy option. |

Good Lord, how the hell did a training camp thread become a f'ing Campbell thread?
