thats why the redskins are a joke, instead of solifying one area of need we still have the same problems as last yr. and more problems next yr when we have more free agents plus we still have to sign rak to a long term deal, don,t even know if we are better than last yr.any word on graham and a. smith visiting if we are going to sign them?
Almost as good as rewalsr. |
I always thought the joke on the Skins was making that splash signing for one position, and letting the whole of the roster languish. Guess I misunderstood.
Love how they get killed for spending too much one year, and not enough the next. Plus hasn't the offseason just started? We're barely 24 hrs into free agency. |

Im no expert, but whose there in the second round? I heard a scout say on radio last week the draft was deep at alot of positions, safety was one of the least deep. |
The Panthers showed that you don't need to have a secondary like the Seahawks to have a dominant defense, your front seven dominates and your back four will be just fine, so maybe that is what Washington is thinking. Not to mention we do have some young guys in our secondary, maybe they are high on one or two of these guys.
If that was the case don't you think they would have pushed harder and tried to sign one of the big name DT or DE's by now? To me the top priority for them this year is cheap/affordable players. They know they're not going to transform this team in one offseason and they're trying to give Gruden a base to work off of, starting with the O Line. Makes sense, but no fun to watch as a fan in the off season. |

And Philip Thomas? We're essentially getting an extra 2nd-round talent player with him coming back. We stole him in last year's draft. |

Yep, also just came to post that Ryan Clark is coming to town (for a visit).
OK, but we can't pay him too much or he'll lose his Social Security benefit. This is flippin' ridiculous. We let him go to Pittsburgh to play most of his good years and now we want to pick him up as he declines. Smells like desperation to me. Bad, bad move, IMO. |

Maybe we don't plan to stay in the second. Maybe Kirk and our second move us up into a spot in the first where we get a safety. |

Rambo showed he doesnt belong on the field. Ryan Clark, how much does he have left? Shit give me Merriweather and T Jax. Im not happy about no starting FS and SS. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Maybe the plan is to let Thomas and Rambo duke it out at SS and count on TJax to return successfully to FS.
I'm not saying it's a good plan...but it is a plan. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I have to agree -- I think it is a mistake not to sign at least one possible starting safety given our current status. Not saying we had to break the bank for Byrd (in fact, I am glad we didn't), but there were others (we could have afforded Mike Mitchell, for example), and it doesn't seem like there's much FA safety talent left.
|
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Question: if we get TJax back, will he be better than Mitchell or some other reasonably priced FA?

I would say no and I think we will bring him back. When you look at the deals TJ Ward and Jenkins got, its tough to say we couldnt compete with those. You cant pay that type of money for Whitner or Byrd imo or even Mitchell. But there is no reason not to bring Clemons in on deal comparable to a no name Guard from Cleveland. Sorry, im not buying it. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I'm not even counting on Tanard. It's suspicious how Browner gets off his "indefinite" suspension so quickly but Jackson gets completely ignored for reinstatement.
I guess Tanard should have threatened to sue the league like Browner did. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Wake me up when another team signs Hasslett.
