Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
One thing we don't talk about as much as we should is the concept of having role players. As you pointed out in your post, the Skins must think that Reyes has the potential to help as a situational inside pass-rusher. Joe Barry coached him in SD, so the Skins know more about him than most teams. He isn't going to be highly paid so he's worth a shot, IMO.
Joe Gibbs was known as "the ultimate role player coach" and he did alright. I've agreed with you so much lately that I may need to get a "checkup from the neck up". Or, perhaps I'm just now coming to my senses.
Excellent post. Finding guys that can do everything well is obviously the holy grail and what you look for in your first round picks. But you have to succeed in the NFL with guys like Kyshoen Jarrett who may not be the prototypical safety but he can cover the slot like a mother. Situational pass rushers. Blocking tight ends. Shifty slot WRs that can steal a first down like a shady little chain burglar. Dominant goal line defenders - the reason Kedric Golston remains on the roster to this day. You need a way to win the play when the drive is on the line. Everyone plays their part. |

Under 25 years old and all of them signed at the vet minimum. LOL. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
The Washington Post's Mike Jones reports the Redskins and free agent OLB Junior Galette (Achilles') remain far apart in negotiations.
Galette is after a one-year contract after tearing his Achilles' in training camp last year, but he does not appear ready to accept the incentive-based salary which normally comes with a "prove-it" deal. Jones reports the Redskins have offered one-, two- and three- year contracts, but each deal includes low base salaries with salary incentives. Other teams have interest, but Jones reports their offers are similar to Washington's. It appears this standoff could last quite some time. Need to get this done |

I have a feeling this may drag out, if Gallette wants to wait and see if there is any team out there who gives him a better offer as a result of some type of injury. However, I feel that Gallette just needs to take whatever deal gets offered, because he's basically in the same situation he was last year. While I believe the off-field stuff is not an issue any more, his season ending injury is likely giving teams a pause in making him an offer close to what he wants. |

Fuck him then. Bye Junior. Sorry your being a greedy child

He has the ultimate dickhead as his agent now as well. Really like to ask J.G. what does he expect at this point? |

Redskins Free Agency 2016
Let it play out, the team holds all the cards here... why the F do fans get so cranky over contracts? It's a process.

Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
He's an emotional guy, its going to take him a bit to come around to reality but since the Redskins have the right to match any offer they're in no hurry to up the ante. All they have to do is let other teams set the market and match it, which they'll surely do.
I see it dragging out forever but he'll definitely be a Skin. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Gallete has no leverage. He didn't play last year, he has a suspension coming, he's coming off a serious injury, he's got a video beating some chicks ass. Oh...and on his way out of New Orleans he basically trashed everyone. I doubt anyone is going to give him a contract that isn't incentive based. He's not getting any deal with a lot of guaranteed money.

An admirably succinct and accurate summary.

Suspension was already served last year. But otherwise right on. |

Blackmon back with the team:

Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016
Blackmon .... he filled in admirably for being asked to play 90% of D and ST snaps as a guy off the street last year. Hopefully he is intended to be used as deep depth and ST play. I really dont want him as our starting corner while we wait for Culliver.
Barry said he had to dial down the blitz options bc he had to protect our secondary. I do not want the same defense as last year. Same personnel = same defense imo. Easier said then done but you need 3 starting caliber corners in the NFL nowadays imo. Culliver and Bree are 2. We need to add a 3rd. One injury to one player shouldnt have such huge ripple effects like it did last year by altering our entire approach and scheme. |
