Redskins interviewed Gus Bradley today.
This is the kind of in-depth stuff I love, when you look at this stanza, don't you think of the versatility that is Su'a Cravens? He can rush, he can cover. He's exactly the kind of toy that Pettine's mindset can maximize:
I still like Wade if he's available. But Pettine obviously gets it, and the record of quick defensive improvement is there.
Thank you for posting that, Schneed! I'm telling ya, the more I learn about Pettine, the more I am starting to like him over the others. |

I'm now starting to feel a bit better since the 'skins have interviewed both Pettine and Bradley. After your post, I am starting to like Pettine more, but I think I would still be thrilled with Bradley, or of course Phillips. |
Re: The coordinators
I can see why Gruden made Pettine one of his first interviews. Pettine clearly has a philosophy of being aggressive, yet minimizing the information that he throws at his players. Gruden of course saw what we saw this year, that the biggest problem was communication lapses.
It looked to me like Compton was spending an awful lot of time giving hand signals to the secondary and then turning to the other LBs and they just seemed to be staring at each other for far too long before each snap, and not spending enough time looking at the offense's formation. I think the information wasn't being digested efficiently and so you had guys out of position. I see the appeal of Pettine. Teaching in a way that lets guys know their job and just attack. We still need talent but hiring him would make me happy. |

After reading that I would probably be happy with Pettine, provided he got the players necessary to run it. I'm not certain our defense currently has the smarts to be effective in a scheme like that, but obviously we know where the focus will be so I'd be happy to give it a chance. |

Yeah the talent always goes hand in hand. He had line talent with the Jets (Kris Jenkins) and the Bills (Marcell Dareus, Mario Williams). We have a few pieces he can work with but he would need more. You could say the same for any coach, though, and McCloughan will no doubt be out to get more. Nevertheless, the Bills had Dareus and Williams in 2012 before Pettine was there. They were 22nd in yards allowed. In 2013 in Pettine's first year? 10th. |
Re: The coordinators
I wonder if Peppers could fall to us at 17

Cooley said this left the players scrambling around right up to the snap. |

The part I like about Petine is how fast he can turn things around, which tells us that the scheme helps bring the talent level up a notch. Not sure that Gus has shown that in his previous stops. |

There's only one solution. McVay's turned into a liability. We need to call an exterminator. Nah but seriously I would be fine with Pettine. Results aren't the most part of the equation, but they matter. The fact that he gets quick results is a good look. |

Safety And kick return. And...the Wildcat. |
Re: The coordinators
Peppers isn't a true position player, people act like he's the next deion Sanders or something and he's probably not.
Also NFLN is reporting that the skins will target mike McCoy to replace mcvay Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk |
