Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Yeah as really just hope that he can find a way to stay with the team. If they let him go, it would really be a mistake if they did.
I'm with you snake. From the tone of Cooley and Kevin it seems SM and or Dan is not in love with Kirk, and is willing to part with him for the right price.
I'm 43 and a lifelong Skins fan, but if they trade Kirk that will be it for me. I refuse to continue to support an organization that gets it wrong every time. That let's there ego or their bottom line effect there decisions. I mean really, did Kirk find Scott's liquor stash and poor it down the sink?? Why can't they for once be happy with our own guy and not always be looking for the shiny new car i.e. (Brad Johnson, Trent Green, Antonio Pierce, Ryan Clark, on and on again..) When is enough finally going to be enough.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm with you 100%. We've all endured countless horrors since Snyder has owned the team. Letting his franchise QB walk will be the nail in the coffin for me. As much as I love this team, you are right we can't continue to support stupidity and ineptitude. I'm actually looking forward to continue to root for Cousins wherever he lands. |
Are you aware that both Jay Gruden and Bruce Allen recently said they are certain that Kirk will be a Redskin next season? BA was asked to give a number on a scale of one to ten of the probability that Kirk would be back next season and he said "ten".
One of our posters here said that may be really nothing more than "coach speak", intended to drive up Cousin's asking price in terms of the trade, enabling Washington to get more for him. |
With access to the results, great play by Kirk and I loved it. But I saw that play live (yes I stayed up for the Pro Bowl) and when I saw Alexander make the pick Cousins was off the screen, and I was repeating over and over "Cousins get down, Cousins get down...".
Then he streaks into the screen to catch Talib from behind and my heart was in my throat. He popped up just fine, thank God. Gutsy play and it embodies everything we love about Kirk. But MAN was that F'ing STUPID!
Football Player Ever since SM walked into Redskins Park he has preached nothing but acquiring Football Players. His method, stated by SM himself, is draft well, develop your own and reward those who have grown with you. Kirk is ALL of that and more. The Pro-Bowl play shows us just how badly he wants to win. Because at the end of the day he doesn't care what game it is, he's a Football Player. I'll be extremely upset if we let Cousins go, not because of his talent (which I think is only improving and will continue to do so), but because of his attitude and grit. He has the exact Identity we're trying to establish here. |

Or maybe it's the truth and we should trust the football guys to make good football decisions. I can't see SM or JG letting him go to start over basically searching for another Cousins. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
When you step back and just think about this situation, forgetting all the reports and rumors and speculations for a moment, can you see any way we dont keep Cousins? Are these guys that are supposed be professional football decision makers really so stupid they would let a guy who just had two seasons like he had leave? No way, he will be back on a long term deal unless someone offers us an insane deal in exchange

Gruden would be cutting his own throat if he were to let KC go without a full out war. He basically hitched his cart to KC during the first preseason. SM, he's not really tied to KC 100%, but I am pretty sure they both put their reputations out there to get RG3 gone. And at this point everything said has been that BA and DS are out of the player picking carousel (as much as the money man and owner ever are). The ONLY point I've heard made for them letting him walk is that (other than DS) none of our FO has ever spent the kind of money that will be needed before. There is a first time for everything. |

But like John Lynch said - right or wrong that's the going rate for a franchise QB |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I feel a little better about things after hearing BA and JG come out and say positive things about KC. Just still confused why they're not negotiating. The season has been over with for weeks and so far nothing. That makes no sense to me.

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Negotiations are almost always driven by deadlines. Simple as that.

Preeeetty sure they can't negotiate until after the Super Bowl. |

That's not true according to that ESPN Article on Cousins, called "Kirk Cousins has millions of reasons not to fear the franchise tag". They said that the skins have been free to re-negotiate with Cousins since the minute the regular season ended |

Keim said that and there is no doubt he is one of the best, but I always remember the season ends after the Superbowl. Either way it likely will be around the deadline to tag him before a deal is done. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk |

Well, you have apparently gone full ShakySnake on this topic. Let's compare our sources: My sources, the President of the Redskins and the Redskins Head Coach, say that it is a virtual certainty that Kirk will be with the team in 2017. Your source, one of our posters, says that what they said is just "coach speak". So you weigh the credibility of the sources and come to the conclusion that the Redskins might not re-sign Kirk, thus causing the sky to fall and forcing you to renounce your Redskins fandom forever. Nice job of seeing right through those lying bastards at Redskins Park. |
