Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
I really don't want Ron Rivera to make the hiring decision on a new OC. I just want a hiring freeze until the sale of the franchise is finalized, even if the new HC turns out to be Daffy Duck and he hires Elmer Fudd as his OC. I am s-o-o-o done with DS and RR. I just want them both to just GTHO ASAP.

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
I have read several articles that claim Washington is chasing Derrick Carr. I hope the team is not stupid enough to make a trade for him. He is another high priced, overrated, short on ability quarterback like the last one they traded away the house for. In all of his seasons combined, he as about a 60% completion rate. He is one of the lower level starting quarterbacks. I hope Washington passes. He will cost another arm and leg for a less than capable QB.

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
They should give Carr a look only if he hits free agency. I definitely wouldn't trade anything for him.

As much as this contradicts my previous posts, I rather run with Sam then give what ever it takes to to get Carr. Carr at best put us just out of the playoffs or a one and done team. To be successful in the NFL you need a good/great QB on a rookie contract, that is the sweet spot. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
Starting to think my plan would be to find a veteran QB in free agency, someone who can start if needed, but ideally would backup and mentor Howell. Someone that won't break the bank. Thinking along the lines of an Andy Dalton type of player. And then add another QB later in the draft to develop.

Welcome to where I am. Dalton or Brissett would be good veteran options. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
Brissett might be the answer.

I agree with this with a caveat if they like a QB anywhere in the draft get him simply because the roster is above average/good. Our roster doesn’t have a lot of immediate needs right now…but do so without moving up. |

Ditto. Brissett is who I mentioned with this exact recommendation. Dalton would be ok too. |

Commanders twitter is bitching about the lack of OC's that are interested in coming here lol... Why would they come coach for a lame duck HC that is 90% fired after next yr barring some miracle playoff run

I'd actually be OK with just giving it to Zampese or Shurmur. I doubt anyone is here more than 1 year anyways. If Snyder sells the team, one of us could be the OC and I would be happy next season. I'm under the assumption that no one in the front office or coaching staff will be here in 2024. |

Hard to get a solid OC candidate with a number of HC positions open. People need to be patient, but we know that's not going to happen. |

I do think though, that if RR can find a coordinator that can get this offense moving as it should - at a level equal to its talent - this team will be right back in the thick of the NFC East race next year. Depending on how things shake out, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that RR and his staff will be shown the door. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
Unlikely he'd come here, and maybe even us interviewing him, but I'd consider Leftwich for OC. He could be good for Howell, especially having worked well with Brady, until this season at least.
