Giants and Victor Cruz not close...he wants Dwayne Bowe money.
Cruz has already expressed a desire to sign a long-term deal with his hometown team many times, and the Giants have said they intend to keep him. That’s why, as the Daily News reported two weeks ago, the Giants offered Cruz a long-term deal worth $7 million annually, which one NFL source added included more than $20 million guaranteed.

Cruz, with his former agent, was believed to be seeking much more, however. Several NFL sources said his asking price was closer to $10 million-$11 million per year, which is about the going rate for a No. 1 receiver in the NFL. With the two sides not close, the Giants gave Cruz a “first-round tender” before the free-agent market opened in early March, which would get him a salary of $2.879 million 2013 if he signs it.

I like him and want him to stay a Giant but he's not 11 mill a year good, too many drops.

That is what the Patriots said with Wes Welker and they let him go, and he somehow signs for less then 10 million a year. Same thing will probably happen with Cruz, only big difference is age.

Seeing that Rodgers won a SB 2 years before Flacco did, Rodgers should be paid the highest salary of all of the starting quarterbacks in the league. Rodgers has been a great QB.

According to Jerry Jones, all a QB needs to do is to put up big numbers during the regular season and choke in important games with playoff implications to get a lot of money as a QB

The 11- 10 million number was being asked by his first agent, he no longer works with him, he and Eli now have the same agent.

That is not a good thing for the Giants because I am pretty sure Eli is going to get paid around 20 million this upcoming season, so obviously this agent knows how to get money for his players.

Cruz also has the same agent as RG3 now.

If we are reading tea leaves based on agents...

Cruz accepts the one year tender and then next year... Garcon on the outside with Cruz in the slot and Davis lined up at tight end.

Santana is gone next year so the need for a slot receiver is there. Morgans contract voids next year iirc plus he is due big money anyways. Morgan and Santana cover the cost of Cruz. Same money plus an upgrade at the position.

But, as we all know, reading tea leaves based on agents is pointless.

If the Ravens had made Trent Dilfer the highest-paid QB in the NFL, they'd be even bigger idiots than they are for paying Flacco so much.

Brad Johnson won a SB too. Even Kurt Warner was not worthy of being the top-paid QB in the league. Ben Roethlisberger isn't either.

Sounds like you're smoking the tea leaves. We cannot afford Cruz. We couldn't even afford Talib or a starting right tackle...and you're wanting a dancing diva wide receiver who thinks he should be one of the top-paid receivers in the league?

If we could afford him, I'd want a clause put in the contract that he loses his game paycheck if he does that stupid dance.

No one was reading anything, just an explanation .Cruz will sign a long-term deal with NY in the 7 mill a year range ,they still have to pay Nicks next year, Cruz has too many things going up in NY to leave and start from scratch. In DC the media darling is RGIII in NY it's Cruz.

Young, rated out as a better MLB (16) than both Perry (30) and London (24) [according to nfldraftscout's top 60 ILBs], and said he prefers to play in the 34 defense. He supposedly is a 2 down LB, but in the 3-4, he may not be just a 2 down LB. I know people are high on Keenan Robinson, but the dude didn't start and only played in very limited packages and tore his pec. Translation; I'm not sold as him starting right after London retires. Even Perry played and stayed healthy a lot his first year as an ILB. If we signed Rolando to a small deal, he'd be worth it to replace London or incase Riley leaves in FA or if Keenan doesn't work out, or if Keenan is only a passing down kind of LB and Rolando can play the other run downs.

taylor jacobs, malcolm kelly, niles paul, hankerson

there are a LOT more between those guys, but none of them were any good either.

sometimes finding the talent isn't that easy, hence why FAs have a market above league minimum. garcon looks like he's worth it, and we're making out on the morris pick, so it can even out, but luck can be fickle too.
