Gibb's isn't taking any chance on Portis getting hurt in the preseason. Portis has to have the lowest carries for a starting back.

SKINSnCANES 08-27-2004 10:52 PM

Gibbs always had a different style of rb

SmootSmack 08-27-2004 10:53 PM

Exactly Matty, Riggins was there for only 4 out of Gibbs' 12 years and his 4th year he pretty much ceded to George Rogers

SKINSnCANES 08-27-2004 10:53 PM

Yea portis definitly isnt goint to risk getting hurt in preseason

MTK 08-27-2004 10:54 PM

The Rams needed this game tonight. Knowing how big of an ego Martz has I'm sure he gameplanned a bit more than usual for a preseason game, especially a nationally televised one against the likes of Gibbs. A flea flicker? Need I say more.

SKINSnCANES 08-27-2004 10:55 PM

Yea Gibbs didnt carry about this game

SKINSnCANES 08-27-2004 10:56 PM

care*
It's annoying how these announcers keep referring back to Riggins, like that's the only back Gibbs had success with.

Not only did Gibbs win 3 SB's with 3 different QB's, but with 3 different RB's as well.

He also had non-power backs in his stable like Ricky Ervins, Joe Washington and Kelvin Bryant. He knows how to use backs, he doesn't need "The Diesel" to make his offense work.
That shows you how ignorant most of the announcers are of Gibbs. They just piggieback on what the next station says. 3 bowls, 3 QBs.

SKINSnCANES 08-27-2004 10:56 PM

sanders coming back....we should have kept his rights and tried to get somethign for him...

Gmanc711 08-27-2004 10:57 PM

I'm not making excuses, we looked like ass. Hopefully Gibbs gets on these guys hard and we freakin come out firing against Tampa in 2 weeks. I'll be at the game, if they loose i'll be 0-4 at skins games and proboly cry for the 4th time.

SmootSmack 08-27-2004 10:57 PM

Well the QB debate if it wasn't settled already, it definitely was tonight

But the RB situation still looks muddled. I don't think we got any answers tonight, no one stepped up

Thats why I hope Joe THeismen announcess a lot for us, he understand Gibbs better then Aikmen ever could

Did you see the so-called trick play in the first quarter? Looked like Martz was trying to teach a teacher his own lesson.

JWsleep 08-27-2004 10:58 PM

Rock and Betts were hurt. Was Simon in there at all? Betts had one carry?

I think the answer is Betts needs to get healthy.
