Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
Thrash and/or (I know I'm gonna take a ton of shit for suggesting this) Rock could be casualties if the FO really decides they want someone in FA. Adding a change-up RB in the draft seems more likely now but we're sure as hell not going to keep 4 backs on the roster to begin with and Portis/Betts aren't going anywhere. Together Thrash/Rock free up about $1.7 mill but obviously these are great Redskins in the locker room and on teams... i think this only happens if the FO sees a great value starter down the road in FA. Maybe Willis at RT i don't know. Very unlikely we make the cuts for a LB or any defensive player IMO.
Regardless of what they do, they'll have a nice rotation. Don't forget about Justin Tuck. Canty can play end or tackle, so can Tuck. Kiawanuka can play linebacker and end. They can rotate guys around. Slide Canty inside and rush Kiawanuka from the end position on passing downs I'd assume.
Great move for them.
Jeez, can't believe I forgot about Tuck. I think Robbins may be cut |
Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
I heard this somewhere (espn?) but can't remember exactly.
I'm gonna play a little devil's advocate and just say the G-men will be lucky to maintain the same defensive dominance, even with all these recent additions, because they're missing Spags. The defense wasn't really fantastic before he got there and they had pretty phenom players back then too. ... things will be more even in the NFC east this year unless the cowpokes continue to suffer locker room issues and the eagles don't upgrade anywhere, in which case I think we'll be pushing hard on the G-men all year. Actually Dallas has some real work to do losing Canty and still stuck w/ the shitty set of corners. I hope they think springs is the answer at corner :D
I wouldn't be surprised to see Springs land here in New Orleans. Grilliams as d coordinator and their familiarity with eachother.... |

No that can't happen as i've adopted NO as my (distant) 2nd favorite team... i can only be happy about Springs injuries if he's a cowpoke :) |

LOL! Yeah, I have adopted the Saints as my second favorite team as well, follow them almost as closely as the Skins, as I am a season ticket holder. Their big weakness the past few years has been in the backfield and Grilliams WILL be adressing that weakness imediately... |

I would be upset, for a variety or reasons, if Springs ends up in Dallas. He would improve their defense, knows our offense and would step up his game against us. Sure, the last two years he's had some injury issues, but he has been a top notch corner when he played. He goes to Dallas, he will play us twice a year - even if it's the only two games he plays all year. IMHO, hate on him all you want. To root for him to go to Dallas is just ignorant. |
Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
The New York Football Giants can kiss my A**. We'll see how Opie feels when he sees big #92 bearing down on him. Everyone sounds like their willing to just bow down to them because they signed some more d-linemen. There's no doubt in my mind that our d-line has improved tremendously. Every player on our defense, Taylor, Carter, Fletcher and Hall included, is thanking their lucky stars we got Haynesworth. If you don't believe that, then you don't know defense. This party ain't over yet. What if we do draft Rey M.? I'd say that beats the hell out of signing Boley. Canty is good but he did not have the effect on the Cowgirls "D" that Haynesworth had on the Titans "D". Not even CLOSE. Anyone that wants to pack it in and crown the Giants champs, go ahead. But as I've read on here a hundred times, except it seems when it pertains to someone else, winning the offseason does'nt mean squat. I'm looking forward to playing their punk a**es and would expect that the team feels the same way.

Sure that sounds good now, but my question is can you bring that same fire and intensity in September?? Will you take your off-season signings and just mail it in when the game is on the line? I know you were awesome on the board last season, but what about next year. Will your typing lose a key here and there. Will your responses be a day late? Come on get real it's just the off-season [/sarcasm] I am so looking forward to seeing Eli and Romo's faces when they line up and see AH!!! It's gonna be great! |
NFL Network is currently blowing up their defensive line as the thing to watch out for this year. They're saying they are going to be the most formidable group in the whole NFC East.
They're also saying the the Skins and Eagles need to shore up their OT spots in order to keep up with the Giants pass attack.
HAHA! What pass attack? Remember how things fared for them with Burress out... I'm not overly concerned about that Giants pass attack until they find another legit number one. |

What are you saying Malcolm??? Didn't you know that the Giants have great backups in every position, that's why drafting 3 more front 7 guys makes soooo much sense! |

Then we better build our OL and forget Maualuga cause we need OL help first and foremost. Nobody is conceding to the G-men, I'm praising their smart way of signing FA (just like NE would do). Don't tell me their D doesn't scare the shit out of you? Slight weaknesses (maybe CB) and they can address RB,WR and CB with draft picks. I can tell you that all the writers will say they are the favorites to win the SB next year. Write it down. |

I'm telling you RIGHT NOW their "D" doesn't scare the shit out of me and you can write THAT down. They were probably the favorites last year too, or was it the Cowgirls? So what? They've done a pretty good job but I'm not ready to call them genuise's yet. Not by any means. They made their strength a little stronger probably but they have'nt really addressed anything else. And you're assuming they're going to have a good draft and we're not just because they have more picks right now. And Maualuga is not the only LB in the draft better than Boley, so we may still get a starting OT and LB in the draft. They're not the only ones who can address needs in the draft. |
Re: 2009 Free Agent Signings
3 thoughts here:
1 we should go after crowell and sign him to a 1 year deal as a OLB for a year here 2 we should also go after khalif barnes to maybe see if we could fix up our RT spot 3 how will the giants afford all those DLineman, who of them will be cut, it could be robbins, or it could, could, be umenyiora |
