Incorrect. They traded their 06 1st rounder & a 3rd rounder for Denver's 05 1st rounder. The net loss was only a 3rd round pick. Best move of Joe Gibbs II IMO.
That is not what I remember. They swaped first round picks in 2005 and got our first round draft choice in 2006. net loss was at least a first rounder
I'm trying to think, given the speculation from JLC, that we're trying to get a 2nd for Campbell so that we could give up even more for Cutler than anyone else would -- because remember, if they don't want Campbell to be part of the deal, we have to outbid a bunch of teams who don't trade away their draft picks -- if Cutler was say, Peyton Manning, or someone who would actually be a big upgrade on Campbell, would we even be getting fair value for all those picks? How much better can a team get by improving a non-issue?

The fact that Cutler isn't special really only proves Snyder doesn't know what he's doing. The impressive think is that he thinks that ANY QB in the NFL makes us an instant SB contender, much less a guy who has NEVER posted a 90.0 QB rating.
JLC has no clue what is going on. maybe a bit of a clue. but most agree he gets most of his reports wrong. i ain't buying his "insider" reports. just an excuse to check out some redskins info. for me.
My buddy jokingly said this in an email this morning: Denver would get all of our draft picks for the next 300 years, laron landry, andre carter, gizmo, and the rights to sean taylor's memory.

At this point I wouldn't be all that surprised.
That's so messed yet hilarious at the same time.

I suppose we could we could trade Carlos Rogers in the Cutler deal, which would be beneficial in performing a bizzare experiment: Can Haynesworth really turn a bunch of hand-picked slapdicks into a top defensive unit?

If yes, then he's probably due a raise.

But hey, why does that even matter? If you say the net loss was a first round draft pick, why should reality have any baring on that notion?
"A bunch of trade talk is what got Cutler mad at Denver, that's the reason all that stuff started with him, but I wouldn't do all that. The thing you understand that there's no loyalty in this game, so you just have to work hard. That's all you can do."

- Jason Campbell after learning of the Cutler trade talks.
Let's see Cutler come up with an answer like this, oh wait he didn't. Can someone tell me where are the freaking people that were crying character left and right when the team was looking to sign Hall and Haynesworth?

HAI G-Tripp-san. It is tradition in Redskin-Bronco deals to exchange a top flight corner and a draft pick for a Denver backfield player.

At this point, I either want nothing to come of these rumors, or I want the deal to be really, really lopsided in some third teams favor so I can adopt them next year while Cutler realizes being the Redskins QB is the worst job in the NFL.

Well maybe that's why the Broncos are shipping him over here.

With ten other teams interested in Cutler, the price will be steep. If this goes down, we'd better have plans in place for line protection. At least we're not over-paying for creaky knees like Bruce Davis and Deion...
Well maybe that's why the Broncos are shipping him over here.
The Broncos just need to find a team that helps them make the best out of the situation. A bunch of teams are going to try to benefit at the Broncos expense. Snyder would much rather be the guy who overpays for Jay Cutler and wins 10 games next year than win 10 games next year with Campbell and have to make a decision on him.

And if we can give up a franchise corner in the process, so much the better. I'm really looking forward to Smoot and Hall next year. Cutler should feel right at home.

(Note: I have no information that makes me think Rogers is going to be part of a deal -- only that it makes sense).

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler

But unfortunately, when Snyder gets these visions in his head, nothing will stop him. Not logic, common sense, and certainly not the Detroit Lions. Can't see much light at the end of the tunnel now, since we don't have the Bengals to bail us out this time. Although, in that situation, at least Vinny was on board.

He makes offensive lines obsolete.
