Lets talk Fletcher getting greedy. Shall we?
I know we always want to save money as a team, but if there's anybody who you can make an argument deserves to get paid, it's London Fletcher. Dude is the only consistent baller on this team, not once since he's been here do I remember him having a bad game, at least not on the scale of our other highly paid stars. |
Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Can't blame the guy for looking to cash in on his last contract. That said I won't blame the FO for holding strong and not caving in to his demands.

Give him the money, Fletcher is a class guy and a great great player.

Re: Redskins: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I would love to keep London at the right price. Unfortunately i dont believe his price is in line with our price. Deserve has got nothing to do with it. Ask Peyton if past performance dictates future earnings. It doesnt, and it shouldnt. London is getting old, a smart organization is prepared to let him walk.

Good post. I agree with you 100% |

Actually, it does. Peyton will be getting serious guaranteed cash and a large contract, and all of it is predicated on past success, because right now with a mildly uncertain future that's all anybody has to go on. I'm not saying give Fletch 10 million a year, but I do think 7 million a year is certainly reasonable for a player of his production. D.Hall makes 6 million a year, do you think he's worth it? |

Fletcher is a prime example of a player you want to pattern your other players after. His pretty much textbook in ever since of the manner. And, I have seen nothing from his play that makes me think he's slowed down. If anybody deserves a nice contract, it's London Fletcher. |

The length of Fletch's contract is more important than the yearly cost. |

If Peyton had been healthy and played the whole season last year, he would've been 28 million richer today. As far as the length goes, we know Fletch probably only has 3-4 seasons left. Give him a 3 year deal with an option for the 4th. I doubt he's looking for a 7 year deal or anything crazy like that. |

Hope this comes true. |

Let's stop and agree that regardless we both want him back. It's in the details of retaining him that we disagree.

Exactly. And for those saying just pay him, what happens when you pay him and he goes off the edge of the cliff performance wise. At his age it's certainly a real possibility that his play could dramatically drop off at any time. Everyone loves the guy and of course we all want him back, but it's got to be a deal that makes sense for someone his age. |
