Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Again, I'm not cheering the move at all, but I don't get everyone that is insisting on hating it. So what are the options?
- Do you trade a 2nd or potential 1st for Jimmy G and give him 30 mil a year with a lot of guaranteed money to do more or less the same that Wentz? - Do you give Winston/Mariota/Trubisky 10-20 mil a year with at least 2-years of guaranteed money? And don't come with your stupid cheap fan contracts, because we all know QBs are overpaid, especially this year with a weak QB class and a lot of QB demand. - Do you offer the farm for Watson without knowing what will happen? - Do you trade up for Malik Willis, knowing that you'll need to move from #11 to #4 to guarantee him? I didn't have a good initial reaction, but some of you are acting like we just brought back John Beck or something. I just want someone to sell me on any of those scenarios as something significantly better than Wentz. Okay, maybe Watson, but don't tell me you are jumping for joy at Winston/Mariota/Trubisky/Jimmy G.
I would have signed Bridgewater and drafted someone. Teddy isn't flashy but he will take care of the ball and won't LOSE you games like Wentz does. Ron thinks this team is similar to the Rams and he is way off. His team NEEDS the draft picks. Every last one of them. Holes everywhere on this roster. So I sign Teddy, I draft the stud wr out of Ohio State and have more room on the cap to fill some holes. I'd probably go in the 2nd or 3rd round to get my QB and just deal w/ the fact that this isn't a great QB draft. But I could maybe get Ridder or Strong in the 2nd or maybe the 3rd. Now you got someone in the pipeline. I'll try and win 8 or 9 games running the ball, playing better defense, hitting some big plays w/ my wr's and not turning it over. That's the ceiling for this team, with or w/out Wentz. So there you go, I just sold you on what this dumb ass team should have done... lol. |
I still hope we draft a QB at 11
Unless a QB is truly the BPA at 11, and that seems very doubtful, I'd go elsewhere. We could go with one of the top WR, LB, or DB there. |

They have to draft a QB at 11. They have to keep drafting QBs until one works out because its the most important position. |

I agree, Wentz is not the long term answer. Plus it pushes Wentz even more if a 1st rounder is standing in the wings pressuring him. |
Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Well one thing is for sure about this trade, Ron is definitely in charge right now, not Snyder...because Snyder would've never been down for this...I'm sure his reaction is very similar to much of the fan base. It is not exciting, and doesn't inspire hope to a franchise that is desperately seeking hope. And we all know, after Rodgers and Wilson were officially somewhere else, Watson was the only other one that gave any hope to the future, and you can only assume they were not going that route or willing to wait on it. I think there is a very small chance Wentz will win here but I hope I'm wrong. It is funny to me that some are saying they like this deal vs signing a free agent because they'd have to commit more to a free agent...you commit as much as you want in the contract they sign...you make it a prove it this year type deal or we can move on from you. I think we've also learned Ron doesn't want a rookie QB...at all...so don't look for one to be drafted this season or next, unless they have a top 3 pick...which could happen.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Soon enough we''ll be talking about how we went 7-10 with Heinike in an injury riddled no. 1 schedule season, how Chase will come back healthy, Logan Thomas "has never felt this good in his career", Williams Jackson III gets year 2 in the scheme, how our no. 11 overall pick a guard is the next coming of Osemele and Jamin Davis is playing without thinking.
Add all that up plus Wentz being good for 2 WAR and viola ... Were talking playoffs and half the fan base is voting for a 10-7 season. |

Problem with that is team B comes along and says hey Carson, we'll give you that 3 year $60M deal you want, no problem. And just like that you're back to square one. |

“Jameis Winston wants to stay in New Orleans” - The athletics Ben Standig
Kinda figured this, and it’s another reason we should be ok with Wentz It was legit Mitch or Wentz… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

He's going to have a handful of teams very interested. He's going to have options. |

Yep and Ron has stated that he wants a Vet starter at QB, Ron is not the rookie type as we all know.. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't even take a QB now. |

So Winston is likely staying put in New Orleans, Trubisky is probably going to New York. We would have been competing with other teams for Jimmy G and Mariota. |

With only 5 picks now, I think it's critical to get guys that can play right away vs sitting and developing like a QB. I'd be fine with a late round flyer, but at 11? I think we need to get a starter there. Either at WR, LB, or a DB. |
