Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
This is very similar to what I've been thinking. The only difference is that I would not use Foles as an example but would use Tannehill as a certainty.
Fair enough. This is what I wanted us to do last year essentially (but were unable to). Draft Locker to start, sign Matt Moore as a backup, sign a guy like Scott Tolzien to be the 3rd string. By the way, whatever happened to Ben Chappell? |
Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Kyle Orton makes throws that makes you say out loud: "Hey, this guy is pretty good, I don't know why he can never get a long term contract."
And then by the end of the game, he does stuff that reminds you that you've been watching Kyle Orton this whole time. Kyle Orton is a slightly below average NFL quarterback, which is about what Rex Grossman is. But if our system does for his numbers what it did for Grossman's, we could have slightly above average quarterback play with Orton. Of course, if it ends up turning him into McNabb 2.0.... |
I'd be surprised if Kalil lasts even to #4. Shonka makes a valid point. I think, based on what I had heard they were set on Barkley. With him no longer in play I don't know what they're thinking really. One day it sounds like they want to move on from McCoy, others it sounds like they want to build around him, and yet others it sounds like they want to bring a veteran in and have McCoy sit for a bit
This would be my advice for them. You have him under contract for another two seasons, might as well bump him to number two rather than use him as a sacrificial lamb for your mediocre-at-best offense.

By the way, whatever happened to Ben Chappell?
Good question. There's likely no hope for him here since Crompton seems to be the favored flier QB for now. Right? |
gotcha. i thought once they are a free agent you didnt have to do that
he never was a free agent, he was on waiver wire and was claimed by the chiefs, meaning they inherited his contract from denver |
Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
1) With Orton we are talking about a caretaker only. Someone who can start just a few games until a whippersnapper is ready.
2) You don't see Orton taking us to the Super Bowl, but you think that Hoyer or Cousins will?
Hoyer I don't want either! I just meant that I'd rather have Hoyer than Orton, at least give someone new a chance. Ideally I want RGIII like most of us, but if not available I like Cousins in the 2nd round. He has started for a few years, has led Michigan State to good records, just beat a good Georgia team in his bowl game. I would much rather have him than Orton. He is young and can get better. Orton is as good as he will ever be, and it's not good enough. Plus Cousins is a leader download some YouTube of him talking. Players don't follow Orton. |

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Bradford would make an impact here. Even with the roster we ended the season with we arguably had more weapons than StLouis which is pathetic.

Well yeah. I mean that's why we cut Kellen Clemens |
