Re: Official Super Bowl Thread
Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning deserve a ton of credit. Both are worthy of Hall of Fame consideration. Tom Brady will go down as one the greatest ever, but the Giants simply have the Pats number on the big stage and it was good to see a little tarnish knocked off the golden boy image. .
Brady took a couple of tough shots from Tuck near the end, I wonder if that had anything to do with his drop off in play. |
He was enough of a risk that only two teams showed strong interest in him. He tore up his shoulder pretty bad if I recall. He was no lock to return to his former self.
I never thought it was that bad. I know if it had been the regular season, he'd have been out for a few months, but I don't recall it being a career threatening injury. I get that it was a risk, and Skinsfan69, I'm well aware that how good he is today is a perfect combination of luck, skill, and circumstances, but all I'm saying is at the time of his FA signing I felt like long term he had a good chance to put up above average numbers. Not the kind of numbers he's putting up today, but obviously no one saw that coming. |
I remember the Dolphins auditioned Brees and Daunte Culpepper to determine who was going to lead the franchise for the next however many years. They determined Culpepper was the better option. Just goes to show how one big whiff at the QB position can set you back for years and years. And on the flip side, how one homerun at QB can make you a perennial playoff team. I want a homerun oh so badly.
I think the Dolphins doctors were concerned about his shoulder and recommended against signing him. |
Re: Official Super Bowl Thread
today at work the Giants fans are being pretty decent and gracious. Funny thing is the Cowboy fans are just livid, really pissed...i really like that

They're starting to get the same egomaniacal complex that has afflicted so many Laker fans. Winning 7 championships over the last 10 years in the 4 major sports will do that to you. |
