Griffin is smart to cash in on his celebrity while he can. An NFL career doesn't last long.

Besides, it's not like he doesn't have his priorities in order. The guy is a true pro when it comes to preparing himself both mentally and physically to play the game. I'm perfectly fine with what he does off the field.

Some people are just never happy I guess.
I don't think it's just talking to the press. He's got the tv ads, the tv shirts, there are hour long specials on his comeback, the magazine covers, all the tweeting....a little too much PR for me. I mean he's literally become a huge PR machine and he's played 14-15 games?
Is he Donovan "self-promoter" McNabb? Doesn't appear to be to me. He's young, rich, charismatic and uber talented. Everywhere he goes, people chant his name - I swear if he showed up at a McD's at midnight on a Thursday in March the place would break out into chants of "RGIII ... RGIII". The media knows what sells and this kid sells.

You better get used to it. When all is said and done, he is going to be more obsequious than Peyton Manning, Bo Jackson or Michael Jordan.

... and all the fame could vanish in a moment. Let the boy play ... as long as it doesn't affect his play.

Very glad RG3 is our QB. I love kid and everything he stands for. I just prefer that he tones it down a bit but that's just grumpy old me.

CRedskinsRule 08-27-2013 01:38 AM

I remember early in training camp Griffin responded to a question by saying as long as the team isn't distracted he was good responding to the media and enjoying the limelight, but if it becomes a distraction he would tone it down. Once the media tried to spin his comments into a rift I think he did just that, he stepped up said enough is enough, and at his next press conference he made pointed jabs at the media about how they weren't asking any questions/comments about the offensive line. That pretty much moved the conversation in the local media forward. The national media will follow but they tend to hold on to the sensationalistic headlines a bit longer. Griffin, in my eyes, gets it, he gets that the media will give him a stage, and he doesn't shrink from it, and he gets that the team is going to be directly impacted by how he acts on that same stage.

I am really looking forward to the special today, and to what he does on the field this year.

This.

There isn't much (if any) that I would change about RGIII. We've been dreaming of having a guy like this on our franchise for so long, so to start complaining about non-issues is disheartening to say the least. Enjoy the ride people.

I don't see him like McNabb at all. Part of it really isn't even his own fault. The media has crowned the guy before he's even really done anything.

Well, the media crowned him based on the Skins' megatrade. At that point he was destined for media spotlight whether he succeeds or fails. Fortunately for Skins fans everywhere, it seems apparent that it will be based on success.

Yeah just one of the best rookie seasons ever for a QB, won the division, etc. Basically he lived up to the hype and then some.

JoeRedskin 08-27-2013 02:17 PM

Pfffft ... that's nothing, I could have done it with one ... no two hands tied behind my back. Yeah, that's the ticket!
