Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
We had one QB on the roster they signed Jacoby for back up money this isn't CW where we gave up picks and paid him starter money.
No one on the Commanders is saying we found QB1, still need to get a 3rd guy and have them compete. I much rather have Brisset then Lamar here tying up millions for years and he is not even a guy the new owners want. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
JB is a good pick up for you guys.

Dead Money
Name Cap Number William Jackson III $9,000,000 Landon Collins $5,025,000 Bobby McCain $2,800,000 J.D. McKissic $2,000,000 TOTAL $18,988,157 That’s a lot of wasted cap this year. |
I don't see an issue with it either (we needed someone) I just question the pollyannish take that he is a major upgrade over Heinicke.
Heinicke has an extremely limited ceiling, mainly because he cannot throw the ball down the field. We have some burners at wr and he could not air the ball out. That is a huge problem. This isn’t Turners offense it is EB’s and you absolutely need to be able to throw the ball down the field. He will be our backup and hopefully he doesn’t see the field, but if he does he simply brings more to the table than Heinicke. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
If you read Keims tweet where he said they were trying to resign Taylor he also said they believed Brissett would get better options/more money elsewhere. So sounds like they just didn’t think he might be an option- in other words they got who they wanted at backup and it wasn’t necessarily Taylor is how I read it.

Hopefully SH runs away with the job, but I feel pretty good about JB stepping in if needed. He’s solid and has a legit NFL arm.

Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
Heinicke has a higher passer RTG (So everyone but ESPN would rank him higher). QBR is strictly an ESPN formula that some have criticized. Weird thing you'd think is QBR would be reflected directly with won/loss record as it is tied to points, importance of plays etc. Yet Heinicke had a much higher win/loss rate. Given that one would think Brisset would have a lower QBR.
Passer rating doesn't take into account the impact the WR has on a play while QBR focuses exclusively on the QBs impact on any given play. Regardless if you think they are relatively comparable or even if TH is slightly better is he worth 20 mil for 2 yrs? I'd prefer the 8 mil for one player. Let's hope he is there to provide insight and a guiding veteran force to Sam and nothing more. He has experience that TH cannot provide Sam and I think that plus cost is the most important factor. |

Exactly. Priority number one for any quarterback…. Can throw the ball (consistently) over 20 yards without it looking like he threw a balloon. Yes he is a scrapper, yes he has heart, yes he has guts, yes it’s a good story. But my God he is the definition of a noodle arm. |

Yup and Ron matched it with Will Jax. I think we are done with everyone after this coming season on this list. But 2 players i think that still could be on the chopping block is Roullier and Logan Thomas. I’d keep both, but Roullier needs to be renegotiated. I’m not sure is Gates is a better center than Roullier when Chase is 100% healthy, but of course that’s the problem |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
Per Keim:
Skins still in the market for both LB and RB, but will wait until the later round of Free Agency The guy who would fit well: Jerrick McKinnon. Played for Bieniemy; mutual respect; good experienced third down RB. The ? Is the $$. Why they’ll wait to see where it goes. If no signings, draft later. McKinnon is a beast, I think he’s better than JD |

160 mill for Daniel Jones? |
Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread
@john_keim
As an FYI: Washington has made an offer to WR Cam Sims (as we all expected). Just waiting to hear what he wants to do. Adding Kemp doesn't change how Sims can still help. Different roles on ST. Both help there. Both block well. Kemp: 4 career receptions; Sims: 57 career catches. |

Can think of a few other holes id like to plug than rb? Maybe EB looking for something particular we don’t have now. |
