mcclover is a 3rd-4th round pick last i saw, wasting a 2nd on him would be a bit silly, but he or lawson would both be good fits in c clemons like roles (DE/OLB type pass rushers).

Blackmon also plays WR (730 yards last year i think), so he should definately be on the skins board... hopefully we can get a couple 3rds (comp and ramsey), but i really doubt it :( which means we lose either a CB, a TE, or a DE worth having in the third. the MD CB (mcphearson) iss a later round pick that's VERY fast... good pick, but i dont know if he could ever be a #2 corner, meaning another CB pickup in the next coupel years when springs is gone.

I know nothing about that OG... he wont go above the 5th round though, might even be undrafted.

I have seen McClover in the 2nd or 3rd in alot of evaluations/mock drafts and after the combine his stock will go up.

Evans will be a 5th-7th rounder depending on how he works out but he will be drafted. There has been NFL scouts at his practices since his Jr. year, this year they were at practices weekly.

Here is a little article about the OG I was talking about. He played OT in college but projects as a guard in the league. Could be a big steal in a late round.

I disagree. Nemo and Rock were both recent 7th round picks by the Skins.

If you go back to Gibbs 1, you find players like:

Keenan McCardell: 12th round 1991
Mark Schlereth: 10th round 1989
Clarence Vaughn: 8th round 1987
Kurt Gouveia: 8th round 1986
Barry Wilburn: 8th round 1985
Terry Orr: 10th round 1985
Raleigh McKenzie: 11th round 1985
Kelvin Bryant: 7th round 1983
Ken Coffey: 9th round 1982
Charlie Brown: 8th round 1981
Darryl Grant: 9th round 1981
Clint Didier: 12th round 1981

None of those guys were shabby players.

You can credit Beathard and Casserly if you like, but the point is that talent can be found in late rounds of the draft. Good scouts and GMs do not waste 7th round picks and allow those guys to walk into someone else's camp. I say that you find the biggest bull left in the pen, give him good technique coaching and make a servicable lineman out of him.

1992 Matt Elliot C 12th Rd (336 overall)

Given the title "Mr. Insignificant" as the last player drafted that year, Elliot made the team and I believe played a few more seasons in the league after his one-year stint with the Skins. I think the only other draft picks from that class to make the team were Desmond Howard and Darryl Moore, an offensive lineman.

lewis will be gone way before the skins pick. pope might still be up, but klop or day will be available in the 3rd/4th respectively and are just as good as blockers... I believe the knock on lewis was his blocking, and i don't think a pure receiving TE is really a need with cooley around, so you get more efficiency for the team by waiting a round or two and filling more dire needs while still getting one of the best blockers who's also bigger and faster than royal to boot.

We will get a better picture of where these player will land after the combine. I can't wait!

I'd love to see an OG in the second but it won't happen. They like to get developmental O-Lineman on day two and hope Buges can work his magic.

A good situational (pure pass rusher) DE could fall to us at a pretty good price if other teams worry about size and durability. This would make perfect sense for us because Wynn is a monster run stopper and then we could spell him on passing down with a N.D. Kalu type player. I don't like Arrington at De - he usually gets pushed out of the play. I'd rather keep him in between the ball carrier and our goal line as much as possible. What we need is a tweener DE/LB type if they don't get snatched up by all the 3-4 D's.

I think we are decent at DT with Boscetti and Killings getting some play time this year.

Help at DB and of course WR is also on my wishlist.

MAN, I wish we had a 1st rnd pick!!! I HATE it when they trade future picks. Draft Day is like Christmas for me.........and somebody pooped in my stocking!

DT is alright, but noble was a lot better than joe and there's definately FAs worth at least looking at there.

I wont credit Casserly it was all Beathard back then.

This regime hasen't proved at all that they can evaluate late round talent. They better step up to the plate this draft because there are no 1st round no brainers waiting for them.

As for which direction we should go, I think we have many needs I personally would take the best available player, I really would like to add a mauler to our offensive line I think we have a weak link in Dockery, and I am not sold on Rabach either. I would then look for some serious speed for our LB's and secondary.

Evans should move into the starting left DE, and hopefully find someone to take over for Daniels, Daniels finished strong but he's injury prone and another year older. We won't find stars, but we may find upgrades.

Perhaps the biggest impact considering our situation on defense would be a very fast outside LB who Williams can Groom, he just needs physical ability Williams will teach him the rest ALA Clemons.

Keep in mind that most of the guys you mentioned are guys who were drafted after the 7th round. And since the NFL only has seven rounds now it's tough to compare Gibbs 1.0 to Gibbs 2.0. Guys like Clark, Clemons, Evans, Marshall (even Antonio Pierce) were all undrafted free agents that have turned out to be "not too shabby" to say the least. A decade ago these guys would have been the 8th to 12th round picks of the draft.

2 DT/CB - I don't think they'll take a Guard this high, unless he's a top prospect. A
second round CB could be a nice pick if he's a 1st round talent. If not, DT is a must, big fat run stopper a la Ted Washington.
3 WR - Gibbs may be forced to draft WR because of average free agent pool. We have to make this pick on day 1 with one of these 2 picks. Taylor Jacobs needs to go. Thrash needs to be on teams only.
5 G/T - Take a steady performer with no injuries who can play both (T in college).
6 DT/DE/OLB - We could still get a good DT this late, if we are really looking for a fat run stopper..Griffin can get to QB...For DE/OLB, A 'tweener would work here to help out Wynn, Daniels, Clemons and LaVar (I hope?). I love Demetic Evans, do we still have him? I hope we resign him.
7 WR/K For heaven's sake, John Hall used to kick the ball 60-65 yards when I was at U. of Wisconsin with him. Now he kicks like Eddie Murray's joke of a 44-yard attempt in that 9-7 debacle with Jeff George at Fed Ex back in Norv's final days...Hall kicks like an old man now.....Vanderjat/Longwell needs to come to town or we'll draft a K, or another WR just so we can cut Jacobs on the spot.
One final note:
Cedrick Killings is the toughest name in the NFL. Period.
