That thinking about the Giants not paying Lavar what he wants is old news. There is too much hard feelings on both sides for Lavar to come back. Before that happens, there would be a lot of mutual swallowing of pride and you-know-what.

The purpose of this post was not to make up facts or rethread/rehash something. Just something a friend mentioned to me. The post ended in a question mark! I have to agree that I think Lavar will not return as a Redskin, but it is possible even if not probable.

I think it is mostly wishful thinking that he would come back. . .

Can you imagine the uproar throughout the league if we DID get him back because of that money he gave back?!

Arrington should fire the Postons and find new agents to represent him.

I personally would have no problem with having him back, but his salary would have to be considerably lower until he proved he could return to Pro Bowl status. I'm sure he would have a chip on his shoulder, and he probably be out to prove all the critics wrong if he returned to Washington with a smaller contract. Personally, I'd like to see him end T.O.'s career when we play Dallas.

Ain't gonna' happen. I seriously think the league would have a HUGE problem with someone knocking over four million off their previous team's cap numbers just to "re-sign" them back later on. I bet the league would block such a move unless it were of the original contract.

What if he doesn't get paid what he wants? Will he decide to leave the game? Will his ego let him settle for much less than what he's told he's worth? I see a decent chance of him in a broadcast booth or other form of broadcast sports journalism.

You're right that it ain't gonna happen, but not because of nfl rules. Teams get players to renegotiate contracts to reduce the cap hit all the time, especially the skins. Teams also frequently release players & resign them. Recently this was the case w/Troy Brown last year & Isacc Bruce this year.

But for this one, we completely unloaded the contract off the books. I would think the situation might be different. I understand renegotiation, but releasing someone and THEN resigning them back at a much lower rate? Sounds off to me.

Won't happen with Gibbs there. He benched him for a valid reason.

We're building a team with team-oriented players who are excited to be a Redskin...not self-centered people who can't play in a team system.

patriots do it all the time... of course, usually the players are just accepting a lower wage instead of actually giving up guaranteed money. No one is supposed to ever give up gauranteed cash, cause it makes the union look bad and opens the door to erase gauranteed money.
