I'm with Sheriff and Jamf on this one. Besides, when is the last time you used your hamstring to bench that 225 lbs barbell? Slow times are one thing, but there's no excuse for not staying in shape in your upper body.

And, how "out of shape" was Steve Smith when he came back from a broken leg? If you have the right work ethic, you can find a way to eat right and stay in shape. He's making excuses.

I also read that his MRI and diagnosis were done by a chiropractor, and not a licensed MD. It sounds to me like he was looking for an excuse and found a hack to play along. No offense to chiropractors on the board, it just makes a difference to me that it was done by someone who did not go to medical school rather than a sports medicine MD or orthopedic surgeon...

It appears that he tore his hamstring AT the combine. So, I don't know how anyone can say that his hamstring caused him to look out of shape at the combine when he didn't tear it until he got there.
