yes i got the memo lets see daniels had 8 whole sack and 4 came in one game against dallas. So lets see if my math is right that 4 whole sacks in 15 other games whooo that alot. Carter didnt do much better wouldnt be nice to have another pass rusher to give the other teams something to worry about. Because our pressure suck most of last year.
Is it just me, or is this screen name EXTREMELY offensive in a racial context?
welcome scc.while i agree about the pass rush last year, greg williams likes to generate his pass rush from all angles.i think the skins go linebacker here, and hopefully in the kid from miami.thatguy, you have an opinion on him as a player?(scc, dont take anything personal here, youre among friends)
McIntosh? he's pretty good, but inconsitant. Not amazing in coverage either. I'd prefer alston at OLB, even though he's rated a bit lower. If a guy like demeco ryans falls though, he'd clearly be the best pick.

on tapp:
he may end up playing DT instead of DE cause then his speed and height wouldn't be huge negatives there... he'd have to spend a year bulking up though. At DE in the senior bowl (where he played every D snap due to MK being hurt) he did NOTHING. he lost ground chasing QBs and couldn't get past anyone. He has a good first step and a good motor, but i'm not sure that's enough by itself to generate huge sack numbers.

Regarding Carter, you're looking at his numbers when he was used as a LB in San Fran. As a full time DE, I don't think there is anyone who doubts that he is a huge upgrade in our pass rush.

Regarding the rest of the mock, I usually just tune out after round 2. There is no way anybody can make a mock with any level of accuracy after two rounds. And I don't see any reason for us to go DE in round 2 unless every decent CB, LB, and OG are already gone.

Seems like a lot of people don't actually know much about Tapp. He abused D'Brickashaw Ferguson through and through. Tapp is fast as hell and he is going to be a super star in the league.

My first thought as well! Ought to change it. It has to be a young kid. Mods might be of some help. I changed mine a while back with their help.

then why isn't he a first rounder? when he played D'bF at the all star game he did ZERO to him. absolutely nothing. hardly what i'd call abuse.

Why isn't he a first rounder? Why don't all first rounders become pro bowlers? Why are most of them considred a bust?

Yeah, I watched that game, how many minutes did Tapp get? Oh, and did you watch practices they had to prepare for the game? He abused him then, they even announced it during the game! I'm willing to bet that Tapp won't be available at 53.

I don't think it would be a bad idea to stock up on D-linemen if it's in the later rounds of the draft.

saying that most 1st rounders are considered busts is complete hyperbole, and if you compared the number of HoF and PB players from the 1st round, vs any other rounds you'd see that the guys doing the drafts and analysis are right far more often than they're wrong.

first, "fast as hell" from your last post - he's one of the slowest DEs in day one, a rocking 4.8 @ 250 pounds... mario williams has 50lbs and 1/10 on him. LBs bigger than him (260lbs) have 2/10ths on him.

I watched the ssenior bowl and practices, he didn't abuse anyone and whitehurst was able to gain ground on him while he tried to chase whitey down from behind. he had ALL game cause MK was injured and did nothing, even though he got twice the time. I don't remember a single announcement about him abusing Db'F, though Db did have a single slip up in the game, tapp wasn't the guy at the other end.

he ended the game with 2 assisted tackles and no other stats with double minutes. that's hardly impressive.

Re: ESPN Mock Draft concerning the Redskins

since 2000:
our first rounders that have gone to pro-bowls - chris samuels, lavar, champ, sean taylor (alt)

including guys that made the PB on our rosters we didn't draft: marco coleman, springs (alt)

2nd rounders: stephen alexander

including those not drafted here: marcus washington

3rd rounders not drafted here: coles

not counting the alts, that 4 1sts, 2 2nds, and 1 3rd... seems the higher the round the higher the chance of Pro Bowls... all the 1st rounders also made multiple pro bowls. the 2nd and 3rd rounders made 1 each.

But also the higher the round the higher the publicity. The higher the publicity the higher the chances of getting into the Pro Bowl.

I think we all know that the reality is that the Pro Bowl is a tough measure of true worth and success because so much of it is popularity, and not performance, based.

he brought it up, I just thought i'd point out his logic is a bit flawed if he thinks most 1st rounders are busts. If that were true why pay scouts or measure guys? why not just draw names out of a hat?

A truer measure is retention rate (average length of career in the NFL)... I'm sure you'll see a huge disparity there as well though.

I'm working on finding a like but ESPN did this segment on 1'st rounders couple of weeks ago. They basically said in the last 7 drafts only 28 first round players went to the pro bowl. Just because you get picked in the first round doesn't mean you are very good nor does it guarantee success in the next level.

I thought he was faster than 4.8 in the 40, guess I was wrong. Still, when the whistle blows I would rather he be on my side.

that's incomplete information though... how many 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th rounders went during that time? how many pro bowlers were making those pro bowls that were 1st, 2nd, etc rounders rafted further back than that?

how many were repeat pro bowlers? how many TOTAL pro bowl appearances belong to those 28 1st rounders (and the 1st rounder making appearances before them)? You can't really count the last two drafts either cause it takes a while for some guys to ramp up. I'm sure taylor will make a few, but he hasn't yet.

champ has 5, lavar 3... single players can eat up a lot of those slots, and more 1st rounders repeat... then you have guys like manning, moss, faneca, etc that are first rounder from 8+ years ago still making pro bowls.
