He washed out. Lesnar was a athletic freak but he hadn't played football since highschool and I don't think he was especially good at it even then. Plus he was a giant wuss. Lewis played in highschool and was apparently pretty good.

didn't make final cut for the vikings.

Lewis is going to probably spend the entire first year just getting in shape. His hands may be good, but he won't be winning any jump balls.

what about as a pass catching fullback? guess he's never done any lead blocking before...

why would a team pick him when the attitude is win now?a project at best that could take up to 3-4 seasons before getting anything out of him.there are enough real football players playing that lewis being drafted is a real reach

Re: Jai Lewis Workout Information/Results

Dmek -- I don't think anyone expects Lewis to get drafted. He'd be an UDFA and fighting for a practice squad spot somewhere. Regardless, he's a cheap pickup who has a really nice potential upside.

is the time needed for him to develope really worth picking him up?at best a full 2 seasons before seeing any progress.as stated by many,no way he will be able to play offensive line

mel kiper was just on 980 and said jai lewis looks like he'd be more fitted for an OL position when they asked about him.

he also thinks culter is overhyped an went on a 2minute rant on how mayock should stop slurping him when he looks totally average.

he thinks culter and M. lewis are the most likely to disappoint. I'd agree with that.

Mel Kiper has overhyped his share of bums in the past

Re: Jai Lewis Workout Information/Results

If he runs a sub 5.0 40 and weighs 292, I could see him filling a position like Sellars does now. Maybe worth one of the late 6th round picks.

exactly how is he overhyping jai lewis? he was asked a question and he answered it. I don't think i've heard him bring this guy up even once on his own.

why waste a 6th round pick on a guy that's not going to be drafted and has no shot of playing at all this year?

I think of late 6th round picks as projects anyway. He at least seems to have potential. I admit that I dont watch enough college ball to know the names of the guys available after the third round. If there is no chance he gets drafted, then you are right. I guess I should have said we could take a chance on him.

I don't think anyone except maybe the team scouts know anyone after the 3rd in any real capacity to be able to rate and compare them. Its pretty hard to find highlight reels and game tape online, so its just measureables, college stats, and short scouting reports.

some guys in the 6th are OL Will montgomery, the best punters this year (who have all looked shaky at best at the combine - plack, torp, etc), more promising projects (hamilton from VA Tech, has the exact same numbers as sean taylor did (6'2" 4.5, 40"+ vert, etc etc) but without any of the football skills, drouzan quillen (7th round or UDFA - 6'6" 4.5 WR that left college to feed his family)) etc...
