Re: Ricky Williams Suspended
Yet another waste of unlimited potential.

Re: Ricky Williams Suspended
I actually feel bad for the guy. He made some boneheaded moves, no doubt. But he came into the league with that personality disorder, had a ton of pressure from Ditka and the Saints trading virtually their entire draft for him, and imploded. Keep in mind he never bad mouthed anyone during this process. He honestly talked about not wanting to play football and everyone jumped all over him for it. The marijuana use was stupid, but if the league suspended him for another year, after he made all of that process and adjustment to league life, based on a technicality... that's equally stupid. Having been put through the works like that, if he comes back, it's because he really wants to, and I for one would be excited to have him back up Portis.
2 full years he has missed now
He should be well rested next year :p I think Ricky may have gotten a raw deal in this one but when you're on the 30 foot high rope you got to walk a tight line. |

What's the technicality though? He failed a drug test. He can claim all he wants that it was a mistake or a false positive, but the fact that the NFL re-looked into the test leads me to believe they don't doubt its validity. And between the NFL and Ricky Williams, I'm more likely to believe the NFL. In fact his statement yesterday was that he was dissappointed by the decision, but that he "respects the decision". If it was really a false positive, I don't think he'd have pulled that quick of a 180. |

failing to take the test on time is automatic failure. he could have been clean and still failed cause he was late or something. I don't have any details. |
Re: Ricky Williams Suspended
ESPN is saying, he failed the drug test as a result of an amphetamine or like substance in a supplement he has been taking. They don't elaborate as to exactly what.

Re: Ricky Williams Suspended
My opinion of the guy and his situation, not that it really matters: he is finally finding out who he is and realizes that he doesn't want to play football, but has to. But when he plays and practices, he works hard. This is the one thing that sticks out about him in my mind and I have respect for him because of this. I don't think that he was making mistakes so much - I believe he was more lost than anything and doing a little soul-searching.
I realized most of this after hearing some similar opinion on Mike & Mike on espn2. The guy's name is Bill Curry - an ex-old school Green Bay player , head coach in college, assistant in nfl, now analyst. |

Crystal Meth is a hell of a drug.

Re: Ricky Williams Suspended
While I am sympathetic with Ricky's plight. I don't believe he is a bad guy.
He commited a Cardinal Sin (no offense to the Catholics, or Ornithologists in the WP) I try to teach my kids that, "YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW". He spit in the NFL's face when he left on his...........................sabbatical. He has failed several tests previously. I personally would not be breathin' air unless the NFL approved it. The NFL is not about to cut him a deal! |

Re: Ricky Williams Suspended
I would say he smoked them rather than blew them. Or injected them.

His punishments are reasonable whether you think his actions were accidental or not. I still respect him and what he is going through. I think he is just trying to make it through a tough situation, which is not having a desire to play football, but having made a previous commitment to play. |
Re: Ricky Williams Suspended
I would say, I have not heard anyone knock Ricky for work ethic "when with the team".
