we need to resign dockery now

Re: Betts needs to get extension now
Dockery and Betts are in the same boat as far as I'm concerned. I would wait on Dockery. If he stays healthy and plays well for the first half of the season, lock him up. If he doesn't, you've saved yourself a costly investment.
Betts has to set his own market value. If he wants to be paid like a starter, well, I'll wish him the best. Good crop of RBs in the draft next year. If he loves the area so much that he accepts the backup roll and ST captain for 2-3 more years, I'm the first guy who wants him back. My guess? Dockery is a Redskin in 2007. Betts is not. |
Re: Betts needs to get extension now
Cooley. He's got 2 years left on his rookie deal. Lock him up. He deserves it.
I don't want to see him anywhere near free agency. Espicially since it wont break the bank to keep him. |

Re: Betts needs to get extension now
What about Sean Taylor, How long was his rookie contract?I think locking him up before he really blows up is more important than Dockery, Betts, and Cooley.I like Cooley as much as the next guy but if I had to choose between locking up him or Taylor first, I would pick Taylor in a heartbeat.
Sorry but if I'm Betts I want to test the market and look for a starting gig.
agree w/ matty. i mean if he accepts a reasonable deal then i'd certainly like to see him back. i think he has some opportunities somewhere. |

The cap sheet says hes locked up through 2010, so it must have been a 7 year deal

Re: Betts needs to get extension now
in my opinion, dockery is much more valuable to the redskins. the longer an offensive line sticks together, the better they perform
I agree, runningbacks are a dime a dozen; RB is the easiest position to transition from college football. THat is why rookie RB's are usually the first to make a splash in the NFL. Betts has a ton of potential and not much else to show for it. Kind of like a WR and QB we recently got rid of. Besides, I like this kid Jessie Lumsden from McMaster, at 6' 2" and 224 pounds; he brings size to compliment Portis. So far Lumsden has impressed me with great running instinct. Gibbs loves the guy. If he pans out, he could be #2 rb by end of season. Cartwright and Betts need to look in their rear view. I do not want to overpay for a #2 RB that has not produced or proven he can stay healthy. I don't care how much potential he has. We have greater roster needs than paying big bucks for an injury prone #2. |
