Re: What would you trade?
betts is NOT going to get you a starting CB. period. unless we threw in a 1st and a 3rd with betts, there's no way we're getting fabian or foxworth.
the best move would be betts for an OL backup, but then we may need to draft a RB since duckett is nothing more than a rent-a-player and was a bad deal for one year. I kinda wish they had gotten an extension done with him. |

Some reports have even higher draft choices being considered. Duckett is only twenty-five years old about to sign only his second contract, based on his production he can command bucks on the market; Bucks we don't have or are not willing to spend for a back-up running back. It's not likely we'll pay Portis and Duckett. So the question becomes is the sum greater than the parts, and would he be willing to play a minimal role as back-up when he could be a featured back for another team making more money as well. These are things I would like to know before I pull the strings on a trade. Without these questions being answered beforehand, there's no way I make the deal, I just don't think in the long run it would be worth it. I'm beginning to think our FO has a clone in the person of George Allen. |
Re: What would you trade?
do we really have cap room for buchanon or harris? and the bigger question is, do we really want either of these over priced bums? i could see trading for a steady veteran like troy vincent
|
Re: What would you trade?
i just wish i could hear a real explanation behind it and the long term plans there. I mean, portis is going to count something like 7mill against the cap next year, and we're not going to pay 3mill+ a year for our backup on top of that.

I was thinking the same thing, especially the george allen part, this shit is getting ridiculous |
Re: What would you trade?
Philly is desperate. Get speedster Jeremy Bloom for Betts. Bloom will take the job of punt returner/ receiver . If you have never seen him when he played for Colorado, you missed a real Tim Dwightesque style of receiver.

Re: What would you trade?
i Don't see betts going to a division rival

Re: What would you trade?
First of all, if we ever traded anyone it would be Rock Cartwright. Ladell Betts is one of our main kick returners and I still doubt we would trade Rock because he is one of our gunners on special teams. Plus we have plenty of depth at cb with Springs (even though he is out for awhile), Rogers, Rumph, Wright, Jimoh, and Morton. The smartest move would be to trade on of those 2 for a solid backup offensive or defensive lineman. That would be the best move because when I look at the depth at the those positions I see nothing.

True, good point on your first post. But there is Thrash for Kickoffs, shhh I know but come on. Rock is one of our gunners I think he stays he...arrgghhh this is crazy drama. I just know Gibbs is 2 steps ahead of all this and it will work out. |

Welcome to the board! I don't think we'd get much, if anything, for Rock. We can get something of value for Betts. If we were to trade one of the two |
Re: What would you trade?
Trade Betts for offensive line help. (Or we might even be getting Duckett to use in a trade? Highly unlikely.) You won't get anything worthwhile for Rock. Also might be able to trade Patten. Thrash can still get open and catches the balls that come his way. (He will NOT be traded.) We will trade from positions where we have lots of (good) depth (WR and RB) for positions where we don't have depth.
If we have troubles with the DBs, we may have an extra 7 to 10 points against us in a game (at worst.) (If Sean Taylor can avoid friendly fire collisions (Springs, Smoot, ...) our DBs should have fewer injuries.) But the rest of the defense should be able to adjust. But if we have troubles at offensive line, and guys are getting into the backfield frequently: 1) Drives stall because rushing yardage is sporadic instead of regular. More of a chance of getting tripped up in the backfield on 3rd and short or being stuck in 3rd and long. 2) The QBs get hurt and fumble. (Now you're on backup QBs.) 3) Our defense is on the field more time (i.e., if the offense can grind it out, the CBs aren't on the field as much) 4) The QB has more time to pass. Easily worth 7 to 14 points on the offense. (At least from what I've seen of the difference between our starters and backups.) And since they're keeping the other team off the field, that's worth another 4 +/-. Remember the playoffs last year. We need the OL to get its job done, and with our division, someone's probably going to go down during the year. |
Re: What would you trade?
jeremy bloom? he's done nothing and might not even make the eagles (With their great WR corp). whatever he did in college means next to nothing. he's had time off, he's tiny, and he hasn't shown to be very fast or productive thus far. not to mention, WHY would we need another WR or return guy?
