Re: Chargers LB Foley Shot Several Times.

if you are driving around at 2:30 in the morning, chances are you were drinking. and im a drinker, 45 years old that has NEVER been pulled over by a policeman. pulling over at the nearest convience store or somewhere else that will be occupied is perfectly within your rights. if he was told over and over to stop and not approach the off duty policemen, what choice did he give him? im sure he is not a small man

That's about all you can expect from someone stupid enough to become a cop.

Yeah, officer from overseer
You need a little clarity?
Check the similarity!
The overseer rode around the plantation
The officer is off patroling all the nation
The overseer could stop you what you're doing
The officer will pull you over just when he's pursuing
The overseer had the right to get ill
And if you fought back, the overseer had the right to kill
The officer has the right to arrest
And if you fight back they put a hole in your chest!
(Woop!) They both ride horses
After 400 years, I've _got_ no choices!
I walk around with a bigger one

With your reasoning the off duty cop was probably drunk and or drinking as well. I'm not saying Foley is innocent I'm saying this doesn't exactly add up.

You have never been pulled over, huh? My good friend from medical school who is black and drives a very expensive car was pulled over once a week for the better part of 4 years. He was thrown against a fence for being black on a friday night. He however was never arrested because he is extra careful to not D & D because he would say chances are I'll be pulled over tonight. So if you wanna call me the next Wewhite you can but it doesn't change the fact some people get treated like shit for reasons other than being guilty.

If you know anyone who is not white ask them if they have ever been pulled over for no reason...you may be a little suprised at their response. You can't just use your own experience on this one.

Total Access says its questionable if hell ever play again. Damn, get shot, law trouble, and get laid off in some dumb act. Thats sad.

if i know anyone that is not white? what the hell is that supposed to mean? grew up in the poor section of town, with all types of friends. im saying if you obey the police, you will be better off in the end. just because your of color doesnt mean you have the right to disobey authority, and then when they react, play the race card. this was foleys second run in with the law in the last 3 months. the chargers have put him on a list that means he doesnt play at all this season and DOESNT get paid. who do you think was in the wrong now?

your friend acted sensible in the presence of the police. he was neither shot or arrested. maybe the path foley should have picked

There is something fishy about this story. I'm hoping this was a case of stupidity and nothing more than that.

It's really lose-lose situation here. The cop probably could have handled it differently, I don't know. Foley probably could have and should have stayed the f**## in his car.

You're damned if you do, and damned if you don't. For sure the race card is going to be played in this one. I'm not saying it's right, but all the elements appear to be present for a potential volatile situation.

Re: Chargers LB Foley Shot Several Times.

I don't know anything about Foley, and it's possible that he was just drunk (and his girl was too) but does this make anyone else think of Barrett Robbins? Was it last year, or two years ago, when he scuffled with a bunch of Miami police officers? He was manic-depressive, bipolar. Wonder if Foley is too

Again, I'm just speculating. And we all know what happens when you speculate

Re: Chargers LB Foley Shot Several Times.

Foley is at fault. I believe I read somewhere that even after he was shot he kept approaching the officer.

It's like a speeder hitting someone that blew a stop sign. The speeder shouldn't have been speeding, but that doesn't excuse the guy that blew the stop sign... he is at fault.

I know it's not a parallel analogy but you get the point.

I don't think we can lay all this at Foley's feet and say he should have done this or that. He was basically at home. One thing is for sure, he shouldn't have been driving drunk - not that damn drunk. But near his house?
No patrol cars in sight and a guy in plain clothes is telling you to pull over?
