Re: Portis is playing ... Backup
I just dont see the importance of Portis playing at less than 100%, especially a non divisional game, and the 1st game of the year. I would much rather him take the time off, come back against a very stiff Dallas rush defense. I know its Monday night, the 1st game, but you dont go to playoffs, or win the division in the 1st week. Portis being healthy for 15 games is more important than playing week 1. my opinion!
Guys, I think Portis is fine. Maybe Ladell Betts gets the start tonight, but I bet we see a lot of Portis. He and Betts were splitting a lot of time toward the end of last year anyway when Portis was banged up. They may both get 10-15 carries and that way Portis does not have to come out and carry the load for 25-30 times tonight. I think we will see a little Duckett as well. WHY NOT!!! THROW EVERYONE AT THE VIKES TONIGHT! LET'S GET IT ON! Sorry for the outburst, I just can't focus on work today! |
Re: Portis is playing ... Backup
why doesnt TJ show up on the depth chart on redskins.com...they have rock ahead of him???
|
Re: Portis is playing ... Backup
but yea bottom line....if we are not down by alot i really do not want them to put in Portis!! We can handle the Vikes and it would be stupid to risk greater injury even if he is self proclaimed 100%. We should rest him this week and let him tear it up in Dallas!!!!

Re: Portis is playing ... Backup

Davey, check out the bottom of that Depth Chart. It says that the Depth Chart is unofficial. I think that is the Depth Chart in a perfect world where no one is hurt. I would not go by that. I just want Gibbs to tell me with a straight face, why if Portis is healthy enough to get into a game, why he doesn't start? Can anyone explain that? "Well, we like Barry Sanders and think he will be healthy, but he will back up Mrs. Magilicutty tonight and come in off the bench!" Yeah right! |
Re: Portis is playing ... Backup
Vikes D Line is very stoudt and it will be tough to run between the tackles tonight. I can't wait to see the first couple of offensive formations. Hopefully the on/off switch is ready to be flipped!

I dunno maybe gibbs thinks we have enough without portis that we shld not risk further injury unless its a team that will give us trouble. Portis will probably return as the starter! |
