The basic game plan for anyone who plays us, force Brunell to beat you deep, no one believes he can, or that he is even willing to try. Goodluck running this week Clinton without a downfield passing game your going to need it.
offiss, I disagree with your statement as is, but you hit the main point. Last year proved that Brunell can certainly hit the long throws, especially early in the season while his arm is not tired. The problem this year (and it has been seen before) is that he has not been willing to step into his throws when pressure is in his face. That is what he needs to do to really make me believe in him again. I don't think he is throwing deep because he won't look deep for fear of getting hit. I hope I'm wrong. |
Re: What must Brunell do?
All of guys make some good points. But, the most important key to this game and the season is that the O-line needs to pass/run block way better than they have so far. Well, actuallly their run blocking has been pretty good so far. They need to be more discplined and stop those stupid penalties. These few things will help out alot and open things up for a controled destruction of our opposition. Also, the defense needs to come up with more stops and cause more choas when they are on the field. We are a quarter of the way into the season and the time is now to put this thing together. Guys like A. Carter, A. Archuleta, B. Loyd, C. Rogers, Rumph, and Wright need to start earning their keep! With this high dollar coaching staff and players on this team, the returns need to be greater regardless of our opponent. If this team wants to be considered as a super bowl contender then, they need to strart playing like one and beating-up teams convicingly. Undefeated from here on out!!!!!
In order to beat the Jags he has to stand in the pocket long enough to allow the recievers to break free downfield, unfortunatly Brunell will be running backwards before the first snap. The problem that will encure this week that didn't happen last week is that the Jags will take away all those little dink and dunk pass plays and force Brunell to throw downfield knowing he can't, or wont in the presence of there D-line, I think we will see a lot of quick throws to players who have no chance for a first down, or he will throw it away before anyone has a chance to close in on him.

Re: What must Brunell do?
Funny how throwing 5 yarders to Santana makes you look like a great QB..
What the hell were the Jets smoking? |

Yea, the day your around to congradualate me when I hit the nail on the head. Which is most of the time. It's funny with all the talent on display on offense how did we ever lose 2 games? Offensive line did a tremendous job, Brunell had a lot of room to operate, it was a nice win, I thought Brunell did a much better job in this game than he did setting a record against the Texans. Let's hope he continues to progress. |

I think the entire offense is settling down and getting comfortable. A running game and protection works wonders too. Go figure. |

Re: What must Brunell do?
so, you talk about how they can't win here, and then bet on them anyways? that's not odd...
"they have no chance, here, take my 300. It's not like I need it. I'm not betting on loyalty either, but brunell can't throw, portis won't be able to run, the skins can't score... so i'll take the skins to win please." |
Re: What must Brunell do?
brunell is off the hot seat. I thought they get off to another slow start (which they did), I wanted to wait for the texans before benching brunell (though in hindsight, I probably panicked a little too much, partially due to not seeing the defense doing ANYTHING to help), then i wanted to see the jacksonville game to make sure it wasn't "just the texans."
he's just not a longball QB. that's tough to deal with, but not so much when he's winning games... |
