I think Morton will have a great year this year with better blocking patterns. He showed some flashes at the end of the season and now he has Thrash back there with him as a double threat.

I also have a feeling Gardner is in store for a huge year next to Coles. Hes going to get more looks with people respectign coles and I think he knows Gibbs wont tolerate the drops so Id like to think atleast that hes worked on that.

Portis and the Gibbs/Bugel system will really make things easier on the WRs this year. Spurrier's offense was completely figured out by game 4 of last year, and he NEVER recovered. This year teams will have to crowd the box because of Portis, and the play action will be very effective. Also, the threat of the H-back keeps the underneath coverage off the WRs in shorter possession routes. One of these guys will take the Art Monk role. I bet it will be Thrash, because he runs good routes and really works hard. But maybe McCants or Gardner will step it up. Coles and Jacobs could have serious numbers playing off the Portis play action.

So I think the WRs will do well, with Coles leading them in yardage. Sometimes the system is more important than pure talent and pre-season hype.

Well, I could go either way with this comment about how the system is more important. Becuase the first thing that comes to mind is Spurrier saying he can make his system work... But at the same time we had a lot of talent and sucked so yea, its all about the system. Parcells, Reid, Vermeil and others have been proving that for years

Joethiesman: As I said, I really like Jacobs. But to translate a college performance 2 years ago and two good minicamps into a Pro Bowl performance this year is really over the edge. He doesn't even have the job as #3 starter yet!!! At this point, even though I like him, I would put up half of my life savings even up against him making the 2004 Pro Bowl. I just like the odds too much to resist it...

Canes, I love your comment about Morton. I could not agree more. The last two years, the Redskins had absolutely NO blocking scheme on special teams. It was disgusting to watch. You would see blocking walls form on kickoff returns for every other team except the Redskins. I never saw ONE form for the Redskins under Spurrier until the 14th or 15th game of last year. I was shocked when it finally happened. The most disappointing thing to me after the 2002 season, was that the special teams coach was not replaced. After all those years of excellent ST's under Allen and Gibbs, it was hard to watch that disorganized mess. LOKKING FORWARD TO THIS YEAR'S ST's and seeing what Morton can do with real blocking schemes!!!!!!!!!!
