Re: Should all 4 draft picks be used for Defense?
Since we don't have the h-back anymore I don't see why we would go that way.
I said h-back/fullback. Just like Sellers was. The positions are pretty interchangeable. Is it that far of a stretch to think that this organization might do some things that make you scratch your head? |

I would say though that if we keep Wade and sign another backup Guard/center, I wouldn't mind the skins drafting a really good BLOCKING TE - I think this would help out a lot on short yardage - not so sure Mike Pucillo is the answer here. |

For instance, Dallas already had Jason Witten, then draft Anthony Fasano in the second round; Indy had Dallas Clark, then went after Ben Utecht; New England had Daniel Graham, then drafted Ben Watson in the first round... Maybe not enough to suggest a trend, but it could be headed that way. I've always thought you could find blocking TEs late in the draft, perhaps even through undrafted free agency. I'd be fine with it -- just as long as everything else went to our astoundingly pathetic D. |

If my memory serves me correctly in Joe Gibbs Era I didn't he pick up a lot of good players this way - Joe Jacoby I believe was a low cost free agent pickup. Sometimes I would think that the players that don't require huge signing bonuses have a chip on their shoulder and play a lot better than their salary indicates. |
Re: Should all 4 draft picks be used for Defense?
Yes.
I'd like to add more depth to the O-line but we don't have that luxury. |
Re: Should all 4 draft picks be used for Defense?
I'd like to see some kind of pass ruch from the D line, I don't care if its a DT or DE as long as we can get some pressure, this will make the defense as a whole look better

Re: Should all 4 draft picks be used for Defense?
We found a QB. We're loaded at RB. The offensive line seems to be playing well. We have a decent TE. There might even be some hope in our pile of wide receivers. Maybe if we can teach Brandon a 4th route, his catches will double? Or get him glasses so he can see the ball isn't thrown 10 yards short?
Our defense was dead last against the pass, and imitated a speed bump for Tiki Barber last weekend. In theory, the coach there is pretty good so you gotta assume we have lost our horses. Maybe if we could get our hands on a top corner like Champ Bailey? Haha. The biggest mistake made by Gibbs was day 1: passing on Steven Jackson (scouted as a real power runner) and trading Bailey for Portis. Of course, Bailey was unhappy so our hands were somewhat tied. Anyway, have to agree: we need serious quality and depth on defense. Maybe keep our eye out for a lineman. Please don't draft the "superstar" WR! That would be a typical Redskin blunder. KC has gone years in this offense without a decent WR and done "ok". |
Re: Should all 4 draft picks be used for Defense?
The smart move would be to trade the 6th pick for two late first round picks, but if we do keep it, I would love to see us get Gaines Adams from Clemson. He is a beast and would give us some GREAT outside pass rush. He is in the same mold as a Peppers or Freeney. With the way Andre Carter heated up at the end of the year, I think he and Adams could be a pretty fierce pair of ends. And my god do we need a middle linebacker. A converted safety (Marshall) just didn't cut it. Look at how porous we were against the run....
Posluszny is the only pick I would be happy with if we decided to pick at #6
He isn't a top 10 pick. |
Re: Should all 4 draft picks be used for Defense?
poslunszy is an olb we dont need that we need a guy to play the middle linbacker postion. but at this point i think we should take the best available defensive player on the board

I agree and that's why I think Gaines Adams would be awesome for us. Most people think he should be the first defensive player drafted. We need to force more turnovers, and pressure on the QB always helps in that department. |

My crackpot, anonymous sources (sometimes they're wrong, most times they're right) tell me that right now the Skins have DE targeted as their main position of need-they seemingly like what they have in Golton and Montgomery at DT. Anyway, supposedly their top choice is Gaines Adams. But if he's already taken (Tampa perhaps) they'll look to trade down and take Quentin Moses and add a pick. Of course, a lot could change between now and April. |

Re: Should all 4 draft picks be used for Defense?
personally i would stay with the defense for all 4 picks but if they can trade down for more picks and still be able to get what they need out of it then by all means do it ..
i would look toward undrafted free agents for depth on offense and even more on defense and with the secondary ... |
Re: Should all 4 draft picks be used for Defense?
I think defense should be the focus this year in the draft and in free agency. You know the Skins are not going to be quiet in the offseason and I look for at least 1 or 2 big defensive free agent signings (Clements and Smith). We still could use a little depth on the O-line and would not mind using a 5th-7th rounder on that.
