When you guys going to realize you are what your record is. When you win your great when you lose you stink. Win more games than you lose and you get respect. I reality there are very few if any outstanding consistent teams in the whole league. It's not Gibbs or Snyder. They don't tackle. It's those guys who call themselves players who've got to improve for the redskin's to get respect.

While I don't care about media bashing or blowing, most definitely a bias exists. All I ask for is consistency. If you're going to bash Snyder fine, but bash the Millens and the Bidwells of the league too. Hell, why not bash the Eagles of the past few years? They made it deep in the playoffs numerous years with nothing to show for it. As far as I'm concerned, that's almost as bad as not even making the playoffs. You're only as good as the trophies in your case.

You don't think Millen and Bidwell get heat?

Not like Snyder. Not even close.
And Daseal, while I agree with you that we do suck and we do deserve criticism, I don't think anyone can argue with the fact that the media roots against us. There's a schadenfreude quality in the glee with which most media pundits outside of DC report and cover our losing. I think that, given our level of success over the last 15 years, as well as the storied history of our franchise and coach, we should have at least gotten a little more good will during our improbable run last year than we did.
Did I miss something over the last 15 years? What success are you talking about?

Actually, I think the bashing Dan Snyder gets has leveled off in the last few years. It was rough in 2000 spending spree, after canning Marty in '01, and after the Spurrier disaster (by the way, who gets the blame for those examples?).

But believe me, when listening to the comments after the regular season ended, the Redskins are surprisingly missing from the "most disappointing" lists. I can't tell you the last time I heard Danny take a hit publicly.

But Millen's getting bent over, believe you me.

In fact, the last two years Millen has been getting bent over more than Snyder by the media and even worse by the Detroit fans.

Bidwell, for years and years..he's been the but of jokes. Snyder has a long way to go to catch up with Bidwell, I think.

How often do you Snyder's name in the media cast in a positive light? What has he done, other than try to build a Superbowl Skins team (albeit stupidly at times)?????? IMO, he's not particularly likeable, maybe that's it. I find many people that way. They don't own NFL teams
im old enough to remember the glory years. and yes, the media was all over our jocks when we were winning super bowls. so daseal, im with you. to get respect, you have to earn respect
Well said but just not with the Skins in Life in general.

Re: Something I never want to hear again:

There certainly is a media bias and I don't believe our team is the only team who has been victim of it. At the same time, I do agree with Daseal that until we start winning, and I don't mean one winning season, I mean doing it on a consistent basis season in and season out, we probably deserve at least MOST of the criticism we've gotten.

That's the point. Why root against us when we haven't won in 15 years?

Re: Something I never want to hear again:
Why would the media root against or for that matter even care about a team that has 2 playoff appearances in 15 years? They dont. I travel a lot with work and rarely see the redskins mentioned in other cities newspapers because the skins are a losing team and there is nothing to report. The pundits outside DC dont care a hoot aboutthe skins because there is nothing to care about.

I think the redskins did get respect for the 6 game streak by being seriously discussed as a super bowl contender this year. Obviously it was respect they didnt deserve.
I am not talking about regional papers.....they don't cover us any more than the Post covers other teams. I am talking about the national media - ESPN, sports radio, etc. Their is a palpable, demonstrable antipathy towards the Skins I have detected. Can I prove it? No, but I think it's crazy to argue there isn't an underlying hostility towards Snyder that underlies every mainstream media discussion of the Skins. And it's not even just the media. I meet people all the time who are Packers fans or Seelers or fans or whatever, and say, oh man, I hate the Skins. Why? We are so harmless...
Its obvious now that the 6 game streak was an anomily and not a precursor of things to come.
Even worse, losing streaks are the norm for Gibbs 2.0:

2004 - 4 game losing streak, 3 game losing streak

2005 - 2 game losing streak, 3 game losing streak

2006 - 3 game losing strea, and FOUR 2 game losing streaks

Thats 9 losing streaks in 3 seasons. During that same period, the Skins have had only 3 winning streaks - 3 games to start the season and the 6 game run at the end of 2005, and the only consecutive games won this year (@Houston, Jacksonville).

Let me repeat: 9 losing streaks vs. 3 winning streaks. That's enough said on what the norm is around here.

Brutal but true. The numbers don't lie, and the fact is that after 3 years Gibbs II is a losing proposition.
