Re: Norv to Return to the NFC Beast?
UPDATE:
JJ has sought and gotten permission to interview Norv, shortly after hiring Jason Garrett (Aikman's 1990s backup) as Dallas OC. Norv is coming....Norv in the middle of TO, Tony "Willie Beaman" Romo, and JJ should be QUITE entertaining. Just hope that he doesn't develop a RB, and they'll be soft. |
Hey now, no swipes at Richie Pettibon! He did knock the snot out of the superbowl-bound Cowboys that year on MNF. He just struggled in the next 15 games. Yet another Superbowl QB -- Rich Gannon -- let that team. Imagine if Gibbs had stayed 4 more years with Gannon rather than Norv drafting Patrick Ramsey?
Do you mean Heath Shuler? No matter, neither of them were any good but please keep your wasted first round QB picks chronologically correct. |

Yes, I meant the candy man. |

Do you remember the 1st dallas - Skins game in 97? It was on a monday night & we won. at the end of the game Dan Dierdorf said something like "Norv Turner owns the Dallas Cowboys." We'd won 4 of 5 vs. boyz (remember the sweep of 95?) at that point w/Norv, but It was a curse that I never forgot. After that, we went on to lose 8 st. to them, I think 6 or 7 of them w/Norv. |

Well, considering that his teams had about as much discipline as a submarine crew on shore leave in Tijuana it's hard not to blame him for Ferrote being a f**k up. |
Re: Norv to Return to the NFC Beast?
One thing about Norv, he knew how to run the ball as Stephen Davis, Ricky Williams and Frank Gore testify. He would have been a better OC under Gibbs for "Redskin football" than you know who.

Norv didn't draft Patrick, Mr. Spurrier did |

LOLOLOL Wait... Tijuana isn't a port town... is it??? |
Re: Norv to Return to the NFC Beast?
Norv isn't going anywhere, at least not to Dallas. Garrett was hired to handle the offense and be a HC in waiting. Jones is going to hire a 3-4 DC to be the interim HC and get the defense in shape by the time Garrett is set to take over.
2. Has experience dealing with completely useless "superstar" WRs (Michael Westbrook) and Randy Moss in Oakland.
i would'nt call westbrook or moss useless, just very hard to please players.i think turner will be the coach, but since they have hired jayson garrett to be the OC.wonder if norv would still call the plays,or just work with the QBS? |

He aslo took us to the playoffs...If it wasn't for a Bad Snap the 'Skins would have been in the NFC Championship Game.... I was in Tampa that day and everyone in that stadium thought he would make that kick.... |
Re: Norv to Return to the NFC Beast?
I'll defer to TAFKAS and/or Matty as the historians here, but I really believe that Patrick Ramsey was a Redskins' draft choice because Danny Boy Snyder "discovered" him and thought he had a "big arm". Danny Boy consulted with Sonny Jurgensen on the matter and Sonny agreed that a "big arm" was a real asset for a QB. So Danny Boy guided the draft pick that year.
Unfortunately, Sonny didn't explain to Danny Boy that other attributes in addition to a "big arm" are necessary for NFL success as a QB. If a "big arm" guaranteed success all by itself, Jeff George would have at least 3 - if not 5 - Super Bowl rings by now. |
