at this point, bringing in players means cutting someone you already have for the money...I saw we stick to corner...and then fill needs in the draft

We haven't overpayed for an aging vet in a while now. I'm starting to have withdrawal symptoms from it. Let's do it!

He's a 27 y.o. DT for Carolina.

I know a guy who works at a Starbucks in Bethesda and he swears he saw Dwight Freeney getting a double-grand mocha latte in a Doug Williams jersey

While we're in the business of discussing rumors, I swear I saw Elvis cooking Chicken McNuggets at McD's. Oh and Batboy is for real.
He's solid. Don't think he's a free agent, but he might be a cap casualty. Question is can we afford to ressurect other teams' casualties?
According to footballsfuture.com, it looks like he might be a cap casualty.
Kris Jenkins, Defensive Tackle, Carolina Panthers
Among other potential cap casualties in Carolina, Jenkins may be the most recognizable name. Jenkins played in every Panthers game this season, but wasn’t quite as effective as hoped, even though he played well. If the tackle wants to stay with his current team, he may have to be willing to re-structure his contract. The Panthers will try to re-structure before simply releasing him, but the team will certainly be making some changes.
Re: A Kris Jenkins Rumor

Kris Jenkins will likely attract numerous suitors in free agency if the Panthers do in fact release him. Given that the Redskins have to restructure player salaries merely to sign enough players to fill the roster and that most other teams have between $10M and $25M of salary cap space, it is unlikely that the Redskins could offer Jenkins a contract.

I don't see a need for a DT. We have pretty good plays at that position though they have been hurt this past season. Our problem is that our LBs are shit and our DE can't buy a sack. I see no reason why we would want Jenkins.

I would love this guy in hoping that he can saty healthy. This guy is a beast at 6'4 340+ lbs. who can get to the qb very quickly while stopping the run. We are know that our dl was not that good this year which could have been the cause for our linebackers to play so poorly. If we don't get him I would want us to draft Branch. We desperately need a big fat run stopping dl to keep the o-lineman off of our lbs.
I was jus thinking the other day when Greg Williams was in Buffalo and was having one the best defenses in the league he had two fat defensive tackles in the middle of that line. (Pat Williams and Sam Adams) With these two dts there linebackers including safeties were able to stop the run at will along with there de to just rush the passer (ala carter and a fast speed rusher in the free agent pool).

At DT we have Montgomery, Golston, Salavea, Griffin, and Evans? I don't think its a clear need area at this point. DE and CB are far more glaring.

Re: A Kris Jenkins Rumor

Apparently that combination was not getting it done since we had the least amount of sacks in the league. Remember your de and cb can not be any good if you do not have pressure. Look at the Greg Williams' teams in buffalo. It all starts at the core. We have Carter and add another speed rusher so that is all they will have to do and two big, fat tackles in the middle is a staple of Gregg Williams' defense. Yeah Kris Jenkins is a beast in run support when healthy. He really does free up other players to do there thing.

Maybe it's a decoy, and Kris was actually doing some house hunting for his kid brother Cullen, who is a free agent (restricted)

Golston looked good for a rookie, but not necessarily starting material at this point. Montgomery hardly saw the field. Griffin is great when healthy, but is injured all too often. Salave'a was an average DT when he was healthy. While I highly doubt we'd ever go after Jenkins, I definately think we need help at DT.
