Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
I think Briggs is amazin'... he was all over the place during the SB and would fit in well here but that means bye bye to Marshall or Rocky so Im on the fence ...

Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
if this were to go down (i hope it does) i think we'd have to try and sign ian scott, and maybe briggs could persuade us to do so since he is a former team mate

Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
i dont want this to happen either but rajmahal what r u talking about we should also a 2 and 3 rounder too. he has a franchise tag on him we should be giving up more too get him. maybe if we our defense only needed to improve at LB i would be ok with this trade but thats not the case.

Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
i actually think this would be a really good deal. briggs would be an upgrade over both washington and macintosh on the outside and we'd still have a first round pick, although much lower. we'd have awesome linebacker depth and would be able to rotate them. briggs is a pro bowl linebacker, this is a good deal if it happens IMO. this is a deep draft, there will be a good player at 31 and would upgrade the defense
if they dont pick up an additional pick then i dont like it at all |
Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
As you guys may have noticed, I tend to think the Skins FO is unnecessarily vilified for a lot of the moves they make. But if this trade goes through like this, I really can't see any way to justify it
I agree on both counts. Yet more ammo for the press and, this time, we'd deserve taking all the fire. |
Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
The total trade value from a trade back from the 6th pick to the 31st pick is worth 1000 points. 1000 points is equivlant to the 16th pick in the draft.
Would a smart team ever trade a top half 1st round pick for a linebacker? Of course not. That's why I don't see this deal as anything more than preliminary trade talks. Probably Chicago's preliminary offer. These trade talks might not even go anywhere. Let's not all get worked up about this just yet. |

I don't see anyway our DL could come out better if we make this trade. |
Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
I like our current LBs, Washington is amazing and Rocky is an up and comer, and Marshall is alright. Squash this trade and get what the team needs, DE/DT.

Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
Honestly, have we not learned our lesson to this point? I mean we as in the Redskins community. We hear one little trade rumor and we run with it. This isn't going to happen, just like the 50 other trade rumors that haven't happened since the offseason started.
Do we even have the room under the cap to pull off such a deal? A lot of times, there is a "leak" from someone in the orginization, and some glue sniffing intern might have heard that the Bears brass was interested in this deal, (why wouldn't they be?) and then instantly thought it was news worthy. I just don't think the Skins brass are THAT dumb. I know they have been fairly dumb on certain moves, but not THAT dumb. |
Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
Moreover, Briggs, who will turn 27 in November, is 7 years older than Okoye and 5 years older than most draftees. Shouldn't we be adding youth to the unit? 27 isn't ancient by any means, but I'd prefer to add solid youth at a position of real need.

Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
I don't see how we can realistically afford this guy if already won't accept franchise tag compensation. The signing bonus would break our bank for the next 5 years or so. If the deal goes through then the Defense must be totally convinced that our D-Line is already set for 2007.

Sounds like BS to me.

I am hoping and praying this is posturing by the Bears to up the value they can get for Briggs. Set the market type stuff. |
Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
i really like Briggs. the name of the game is play makers. and Briggs is definitely one of those. but our dline is so bad, and our linebackers are really OK right now, that this trade isn't good for the redskins. anyone know how old Briggs is?

well marshall is 30 and will be 31 in december and washington is turning 30 this year, fletcher is 32 so we arent exactly youthful at the linebacker position, this would help |
