Re: Jordan Palmer?
How could we not draft any d lineman after having only 19 sacks last year. Palmer might be a solid backup...big deal. We didnt pick up an offensive guard either. The two major questionmarks we had this offseason were d-line and o-line and how do we address that? By not picking any o-line or d-lineman in the draft...brilliant!
To top it off linebacker seemed to be our most stable position as a whole beside running back, yet we draft two linebackers back to back in the late rounds. And why did we draft the TE from Michigan...he probobly would have been undrafted and we could have used that pick on either of our lines. I would have taken Tarrell Brown at CB versus Sartz in the case we didnt take a lineman...Springs will be gone next year this could have been his replacement. I think H.B. Blades will be a decent pro but we have holes that did not get filled. I am also a little worried about Landry because he seems to be almost an exact Sean Taylor clone. I love Taylor but I do not know if two players that are so similiar can play side by side. Taylor struggled in coverage and Landry is even less strong in coverage. My only hope is that I am completly wrong about all of this, but I am scratching my head after this draft. Hopefully we are done dealing our picks for nothing. And would anyone have objected if we offered the Raiders a third round pick next year for Randy Moss? I dont know if we could afford him but I think he is worth the gamble, this is the type of trade that works in teams favors. New Engalnd is not Oakland and Moss will do great things their. |
Re: Jordan Palmer?
Palmer should be a decent 3 stringer. But what pissed me off is no DT or DE. I MEAN WTF!!?, we had 19 sacks last year! 19! Why didnt we trade Springs for a 3rd or 4th rounder? Hes probably going to get cut June 1 anyway.

Re: Jordan Palmer?
This is a great pick! I go to NMSU and UTEP is our regional rivalry. Ive seen Carson play alot and he plays alot like his brother. He's a lot rawer but he will be a great backup QB.
So now when someone says "I think we should play the rookie" it means we're putting Palmer in?
if he gets to play at all this year,it will be in preseason.that is unless we end up with another body bag game like we did in philly in 1990!i'll never forget brian mitchell coming in,running the option, and getting the only td of the night for the skins! |
Re: Jordan Palmer?
I like this pick. Forget the game experience and knowledge of the offense that Brunell and Collins gives us, just for a second. If you put that aside and look at it closely we need to upgrade the talent at the back-up QB position. It's always good to have another young guy to develop with some nice upside.

Re: Jordan Palmer?
"We should have traded all of our remaining picks(rounds 5-7) for more 2-3 rounders next year, then get a young backup that might actually have a chance to do a decent job for us or even start if the JC experiment fails. Dumbass draft all around now."
Since when can you trade 5-7 round picks for 2-3 rounders?? |

i think what the defensive coaches are thinking is if they upgrade the secondary then that will allow them to blitz more. |
I like it too. Hopefully he gets a shot to earn Collins' job.
Al is probably fuming right now lol. |
Re: Jordan Palmer?
You cant say anything bad about any picks untill they play
|
Re: Jordan Palmer?
Typical solid draft by the skins no dline help. reminds me of the year acouple years ago when we drafted 2 or 3 FB instead of dlinemen.

Re: Jordan Palmer?
Gibbs pretty much said he is a practice team kinda guy.

Re: Jordan Palmer
Nice pick up. Guess Bramlet's days are numbered now. Palmer should be the back up by '08, '09 at the latest.

Re: Jordan Palmer?
The more I look at it, I REALLY like this pick. He's 6-6, 231 lbs, and he played some WR in high school, so he's gotta be really athletic. This past season he was 7th in the country in yds/gm, and completed 66% of his passes for 3600 yds and 26 TDs. Could be a solid backup for us. Look at his profile (he looks exactly like Carson):
NFL.com - Prospect Profiles
41 starts, 59% completion. Not bad. It's so tough to project 6th round picks to the NFL. Obviously theres something glaringly lacking in their games that caused them to drop this far. Maybe he just didn't dominate lesser competition? |

Re: Jordan Palmer
I guess seeing that there were no DE left that could START and make an impact now that we go with other positions that we will need in then next couple yrs and go after dlinemen in FA
