Does anyone know Claytons backround in football? I have always wondered how he became an expert on the sport, he couldnt have been a player... I think
lol...john clayton...talk about a guy built for an IT department
Dude, he wouldn't last 2 seconds in my IT Dept.

I still think it's a stretch to see him in camp when practice starts on July 31st.

Aren't they expecting him in early this week for the passing camp as well?

redrock-skins 07-25-2004 11:39 AM

Let's get it done and get to camp!

SKINSnCANES 07-25-2004 01:33 PM

I think they shoudl get it done today. THey know what hes going ot get, they just have to wokr out a few extra clauses. Snyder wants him in camp and will get it done, ive got complete faith in that. Taylor signs by midnight tonight and is at practice tomrorow.

Daseal 07-25-2004 01:59 PM

I'm with Skins. I'm not sure if he signs quite that early, but I think the deal is damn near done.

John Clayton looks like a complete geek. However, I agree with his articles much more on ESPN than anyone elses. A lot of these guys don't play sports, but they love them. You don't have to play to understand.

Just hurry up and sign.

So whats the deal with this three day camp that starts tomorrow. I read it was a qb camp. Does everyone report to a QB camp? Joe might be able to help anwser this.

The three-day passing camp that will take place Monday through Wednesday is a voluntary camp, though most if not all of the team is expected to attend. Generally, only QBs, WRs, RBs, TEs and rookies are required to attend, but judging by the excellent attendance at voluntary workouts throughout the offseason, I would think that most of the players will in fact be there. You can be sure that Coach Gibbs has encouraged as much.

The general idea of these pre-camp workouts is to give the rookies, QBs, WRs and any new players an opportunity to get on the same page before the actual training camp practices begin. However, Gibbs and company are basically using it as extra, "voluntary" practices for the whole team. Hopefully, attendance will be good, and the whole team will be that much better prepared when the live bullets start flying.

Thursday is an off day, then the full roster is required to report on Friday, followed by the first practices of training camp on Saturday.

thank you sir. :)

All I know about Clayton is that his "inside the huddle" is the segment I most look forward to during summer sportscenters. Ever notice how they tease it out? Every commercial break they act like its coming right up, but it usually doesn't until the halfway point.

According to Channel 9 (DC Metro Area), Taylor should be signed by (or on) Friday. This was on the 12 o'clock news.

MTK 07-26-2004 12:54 PM

As long as he's in camp day one, that's all that matters. The WT reports that the basic structure of the deal is in place, now they're just working out triggers.

skinsfanthru&thru 07-26-2004 01:07 PM

If I were a betting man I'd say it gets done in the next couple days.

Redskins_P 07-26-2004 01:13 PM

I say no later than Wednesday ( fingers crossed ).
