Re: SI: Ten players on the decline
Nonetheless, a half dozen other teams have a better #1 cover corner than the Skins do and maybe that number is as high as 15. But I still want Springs on the field for every defensive snap in 2007 if the Skins' defense is going to improve over last year's horrid showing...:biggthump
a half dozen......mmmmmaybe, maybe not. as high as 15,:nono: no way. |
Re: SI: Ten players on the decline
You can add in C. Griffin in there too. These are our best two defensive players and both have not played up to the 04 performance the last two years. Is it age? Perhaps.

Re: SI: Ten players on the decline
I think that was a pretty good assessment. Hope he can regain his form. Dude did get the "sharpie" pulled out on him though! Classic! LMAO

Re: SI: Ten players on the decline
Springs is at the age where CB's begin to decline, and he's admitted as much. It's up to him to prove himself to be an exception to that.

Re: SI: Ten players on the decline
who really cares about any of this?

SHAWN SPRINGS, CB, WASHINGTON A physically gifted player who never quite played up to his athleticism, Springs surprised many with his bounce-back performance in his first season in Washington. But that performance has been followed by two consecutive sub-par years. With his injury history and inconsistent confidence, Smith may never regain his status as an elite cover corner.
I don't think this to be an over-statement. I wish I did. The writer is just noting what we all know-- that Springs is a question mark. Smoot could easily be on that list, as well as a few linemen I know. |

I agree. In fact I thought when I read the title that Smoot was the player that would be mentioned. I think this combo of age, injuries, & declining skills are the reason the Redskins are stockpiling d-backs. |
Re: SI: Ten players on the decline
Let's hope we can milk another good season out of him. The fact is he's been injury prone his entire career.
